Thrifty Thursdays: The wear-everywhere shoe.

Morning readers, today it’s me bringing you a thrifty tip-off from my own wardrobe… Now don’t shout at me, this one does require a small monetary outlay but I’m confident it’s worth it and Gemma will approve. Can you muster up £19? Well, for £19 you can buy the shoes your wardrobe has always needed. Wear them for work, drinks, shopping, a wedding or even a funeral. Marks and Spencer black patent pumps.

I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of black. I actually already own a pair of black patent heels with a gorgeous bow detail on the front. They are very high and very pretty but not quite does-it-all stuff. They were also (although not whoppingly expensive,) not going to get you any change from a £20 note. So despite me not loving black shoes, I needed some. I needed a pair of work heels that I didn’t feel soul-less in. I needed some heels I could sling on for dinner or meeting friends that would look good but still be reasonably comfy. I needed something with a heel height that I didn’t consider frumpy (I do love a heel,) but wasn’t sky-scraping either. And because all I could find didn’t tick any of those boxes, I wanted something cheap, because lets face it, this wasn’t going to be my dream shoe.

It turns out said dream shoe was residing in Marks and Spencer for some time before I paid it any attention and I know this because both my sister and Jess own a pair – and have done for ages! (Hands up in the comments box if you already own these shoes?) They’re the perfect heel height, I love patent for it’s slightly sassy feel, they’re wide enough to be comfortable and do you know what? Despite my reservations, I’ve not had them off. No fear of getting wet because they are good old fashioned plastic. They go with jeans, pretty dresses, shorts, ankle skimming tailored work pants, everything I tell you.

So in case you’re on a bit of a mission to find the perfect shoe and coming up against a blank wall, give this pair a second look. At £19, you can’t really go wrong I’d say.

Thrifty Love,
Rebecca

  1. What a bargain! I always have a pair of patent black pumps in my wardrobe as my ‘fail-safe’ shoes but find that the heels scuff really easily, leaving that ugly white of the heel exposed. Am I the only one who colours this in with black permanent marker?!!

These heels are the perfect replacement though!

  2. Oo oo, I have these buy in the nude colour. They are my Kate Middleton shoes and they are pretty versatile and go with most things, from work wear to wearing out in the evening. And they are super comfy!

    xoxo

  3. I own these shoes in both black and dark purple and I LOVE them. An important thing to point out is that M&S do them in wide fit, which is perfect for my stumpy wide feet. They are the only heels I can stand up in for more than about 10 minutes and I only wish there were more colours!

  4. Hmm, is it wrong that I have these shoes in black, nude, red, silver, purple…oh and navy…? I think I can safely consider myself an addict?!

But…they are the comfiest heels I own, they’re super cheap and they do them in half sizes (because wearing a 7.5 seems so much better than admitting to having size 8 flippers!) .

I’ve introduced so many of friends to them and I don’t know anyone who’s not loved them…. Trust me, you’ll wear them to death!

      • I bought the silver ones (more pewter really) last christmas so not sure if they still do them. The red ones are def in stock as I walked past them yesterday whilst trying to decide if I needed the A/W version of the nude ones (slightly more caramelly than the summer version….yep, I’m that obsessed!)

  5. I too have these shoes – in black, nude, blue and pink! They really are the comfiest heels i own and i’ve worn the black pair to death, in fact the heel is starting to wear down but when they cost £19 i can’t really complain about replacing them!
Fab post, more of the cheap fashion posts please!

  6. I have them in black and red! They also do a slightly lower heel version for about £12 or £15 which I have in black and pink too – perfect for running around to meetings in!

M&S have work footwear nailed! 🙂

  7. I might get the nude or other color as everyone seems to be so impressed with them., black shoes and me dont get on as I have teeny tiny feet and black makes them look even sillier.

  8. I have these in black. My second pair as my dog ate the first ones : / Sure I paid £25 for them though. theya re my failsafe work shoes but often wear them on a night out too. Love M&S shoes!

  9. I’ve just chucked out a load of old work shoes that were past their best, and I just got £50 of M&S vouchers for changing broadband. I think I know where I’m off to this evening!

  10. I bought these a few months ago on impulse black and purple – bought them as i thought they’d go with everything but i have never worn them! what a waste-they just dont look right on me-concluded that i can only do very chunky heels or i just look all out of proportion!

  11. I have these in black, navy and nude. Perfect work shoes, as you say. Also works well for weddings. (and like a commenter above, I also call them my Kate Middleton shoes!)

  12. *hands up* 🙂 I’ve jihad these for about a year now, and they often get mistaken for a very similar Hobbs pair. I love them, AND they were comfy we’ll into my pregnancy. Can’t wait to get them out again this autumn. The black ones are the best though. I bought the Bpnavy ones too but then took them back as they just didn’t look as good…
