The Fash Flash: Suited and Booted

Where previously I had always thought that knee high boots were the way forward, for seasons now ankle boots have been striding to the forefront of fashion. A few of you have mentioned looking for the perfect pair this season so I thought I would do a round up of a few I have seen, (courtesy of a shopping trip with Francesca for the perfect ankle pair.) Of course you’ll need them in brown and black, 😉 or why not try a mid greige shade to work with either tone?

I’d love to know which are your favourites here? Do you prefer brown or black? And have I missed any bargains or fabulous finds you have spotted?

  1. I like flat knee high ones. They might be less trendy but they’re classic and they keep my legs warm when I’m stood on a freezing cold platform.

These boots have quite high heels. I do prefer a flat boot for winter. And yes… always need a pair of chocolate and black (they said tan is more popular this year but its a bit Cowboy for me).

    • I agree, definitely sticking with my knee highs, at least for everyday winter wear. The ankle boots I’ve tried just haven’t cut it. Most important is warmth and very good tread for ice and snow – so many fashion boots have no tread at all and send me flying on the icy pavements (or polished floors!).

    • I chose heeled boots purposefully here (although some are a little high for every day) on the premise that they could work for work and weekend wear, worn with the right items.

Flat boots will always be a winner – I have a black pair from Whistles last year that I wear over skinny jeans at the weekend and for work with dresses – they’ve already been on a lot!

  2. I like the boots with the cut out sections as per #2 but seeing as I wear my current ankle boots (I also prefer flat boots for general winter wear) with socks for extra warmth I don’t think I could pull them off without looking a bit odd. Maybe I am too practical for that look.

  3. I’m on the hunt for a nice pair of boots that I can wear under trousers, my knee highs just don’t work for that. But I walk quite a way to work so prefer flat boots.

I really love tan boots and my knee highs are tan but they aren’t as flexible so think I’ll get the ankle boots in black when I find them.

If I suddenly win the lottery and get to buy myself some heeled boots as well I would go for the ones in the top right hand corner, i love the zip 🙂 xox

  4. I’ve loved ankle boots for years and was gutted when my favourite black fringed ones essentially wore out recently!

I picked up a couple of pairs this year – opting for budget options so I could get two, rather than one at a higher price point.

I bought some fab flat black ones with buckles on from Dorothy Perkins (no longer online), and these from Dune which are so comfy!

  5. Those middle ones from Aldo are a dream. I’m on a bit of a shopping embargo, but they might have to go on my Christmas list…

I have a pair of amazing tan leather, stacked heel Russell and Bromley ankle boots with a sweet little ankle buckle that my mum bought in the 70s and they’re still going strong. An argument in favour of buying expensive shoes – price per wear must be about 4p by now.

  6. I just counted and I have 7 pairs of ankle boots (whoops!) – they are my winter staple!

A little tip – New Look teenage range goes up to size 7, I just got some leather biker boots for £30 online. They have some gorgeous ankle boots I may have to top up my collection with…

  7. *sigh* these are gorgeous, especially the aldo grey buckle ones, but I just can’t wear ankle boots as I have stupidly skinny ankles and they just look weird when they gape.

  8. I just bought these while in America recently:

LOVE them, but not smart though. Am on the verge of buying these:

I like wearing ankle boots with a bit of a heel with dresses for a night out, but really like Becca above my real love is flat knee high boots and I own 5 pairs – black quite casual, black smarter, tan, light grey and dark grey -my argument is I wear them so much (with dresses to work and skinny jeans/leggings at the weekend, from about September-April) that it’s allowed!!

  9. I got these these ones from Next bought with some vouchers I’d had for months.
I wasn’t sure how much I’d wear them so I didn’t want to spend a lot but I’ve worn them loads, to work and going out. Also real suede in Glasgow is just a recipe for disaster!

  10. I’ve just ordered the French Connection ones. I can’t wait to wear them with my black skinnies. I really like the KG ones too, but unfortunately my budget only stretches to 1 pair 🙁

  11. This might sound stupid but….is everybody else wearing their ankle boots with jeans tucked in or out? I look terrible in skinny jeans, but boot cut jeans cover a large part of the boot, often missing the nice detail. And jeans that are inbetween the two, i.e. slim fit but not skinny, I find it’s hard to know what to do with them in relation to boots!

  12. Love the ones from Kurt Geiger and French Connection. But I love knee high boots, I think they are better during winters as it adds an extra layer of warmth which is much needed to beat the cold winters.

I managed to get a lovely pair from New Look but Selfridges has some awesome pairs as well

  13. I really love the pair right in the middle.

I do want a pair of heeled, navy ankle boots – let me know if you spot any.
