The Fash Flash: It’s a Prints Parade

Every single season, whilst devouring the fashion pages of the magazines and picking out the trends that I want to wear, I stumble across things that I initially think I won’t ever try. Sometimes that remains true but more often than not I end up falling for the trend. Today’s Fash Flash is quite out-there, high fashion if you will and although I didn’t need my arm twisting because I fell for it at first sight, I think a few of you may need more persuading. The printed trouser.

Seen in wide legs (for the tall people,) of-the-moment pyjama pants (a step too far even for me I think,) and my favourite incarnation, the slim straight leg cigarette style capri pant, these trousers were printing the pins of everyone at the various fashion weeks around the globe, from fash-types on the street, to celebs and editors. Just in case you’re feeling dubious, I rounded up a few examples of how you can work the look in a totally wearable fashion…

Clockwise from top right:

So, here’s the Florence Finds round up of where you can pick up a fashion forward puchase at high street prices.

Clockwise from top left:

  • Set to be a cult print this season – The Wisteria Print Trousers – Whistles
  • For a softer take on the trend – Grey Floral print trousers – Zara
  • Super chic monochrome, work them with brights… Black and white animal print trousers – Mango
  • Channel the fifties desperate housewife – Floral Print Trousers – Warehouse
  • For riviera chic and a more subtle nod to prints – Ditsy floral print trousers – Oasis
  • And Florence’s favourite? It’s going to be a short lived trend when it’s this powerful and this omnipresent, so pick up what is not only my favourite of this selection but also the biggest bargain – black and brights oversized floral print – H&M (12.99!)
Time to share your thoughts on the trend – can the street style images convince you this is a trend worth taking notice of? Or is it too much for even Florence’s fashionistas to take on?

  1. Maybe it’s just that I am feeling well-slept and enthusiastic about today (Monday’s done and dusted for this week after all), but I am loving these. Not at all something I’d normally wear or even consider wearing, but those pics of (very beautiful) ladies wearing (very beautiful) trousers may have inspired me. I really like the Oasis, Warehouse and H&M offerings. Just what we need to welcome in the spring!

  2. erm, totally going to Zara at lunch (lunchtime seminar cancelled! Whoop!) to buy those trews!

FF, you are ruining my “no more shopping until we move house” resolution!

  3. I am frightened by patterned trousers. I have fear that the pattern will stretch over my thighs and bum and I’ll look huge, and cry.

My, the H&M ones are PRETTY though!

    K x

  4. Hmm i am quite liking these but would only wear them with heels i think… And perhaps a blazer? Definitely want to try them on though! In other news i bought a dress in that very print from H&M last weekend! x

  5. Great post, I absolutely love these trousers. I bought these Zara ones last week to wear with a bright coloured silk t-shirt and black blazer:

I might have also accidentally bought this skirt and these flat boots to go with it as well:

Roll on spring (and pay day!)

  6. Whilst I am loving the look of these (and the Mango animal print ones especially), I would fear on my figure, I would look a hot mess. I’m short and curvy with chunky thighs. Dear god, no one needs to see that.

I will however admire from afar and live vicariously through your readers that will no doubt look fabulous in them! x
