I’ve had a real obsession recently with finding the perfect crossbody bag to wear over my parka. Although I can’t complain of being short of handbags in general, I just didn’t have one that quite fitted the winter bill, but fortunately I’ve seen some really cute ones on my travels lately…
I’ve already included this silver one in my Christmas wish list, but I also fell in love with the autumnal folky feeling quilted bag when I spotted it with Michelle in London a couple of weeks ago, (she eventually plumped for this one instead.) Then I saw this cute as a button small clutch with a cross body strap from The Cambridge Satchel Company. I’m so happy they have branched out into other styles but with their signature feel. It look sturdy enough to be worn over a coat every day but in sweet pastel shades that will work year round.
Last weekend I went to Cambridge and popped into the new Cambridge Satchel Company shop on Rose Crescent. I fell in love with the satchels, which although I have seen before, are currently available in sugary sweet pastel shades of vanilla, coral, lilac and mint. Called the Chelsea collection and named after the Chelsea Flower Show the colours were so perfect for summer that I was sorely tempted.
I also had fun talking to Alex, one of my lovely readers who works there and getting far too excited over the personalised leather embossing you can add to yours. I watched a few lucky people’s new bags being personalised with the nifty press they use too. I do love a gold monogram…
Its a bit of wild card for the majority of you I suspect but today I’m all about the neon. Inspired by last week’s friday frock, there’s so much of it about in the shops and a lot of it at a really reasonable price point so I thought it was worth a round up.
I’m going to start bold in the hope some of you may feel bright enough to take this one – don’t forget, it’s only half a step away from those brights you’re all loving right now…
Choose a bright colour that works for you and your skin tone, then try something in that colour of neon.
Tone down your make up and channel a bronzed goddess with golden eyes and heaps of bronzer and highlighter.
Choose nude accessories to balance it all out.
If you’re not feeling so brave, try just a pop of neon against an otherwise neutral outfit. I think a blindingly bright clutch or even manicure against a white tee and dark denim is nothing short of fabulous….
No survey this week folks, but I had some ‘finds‘ to share so thought I’d make a mini-Sunday supplement. Hope you’re all having a relaxing weekend!
Having a real moment over Neon this week, particularly the Cambridge Satchel Company… wish I’d followed through on the lust last season when they were new! This snap is taken from a round up of NYFW bag stalking on Refinery29. It will leave you a most undignified dribbling wreck if you’re a fan of designer arm candy. I promise.
I mentioned Valentines day not just being for couples this week already, but I spotted this great idea over on Glitter Guide last week – a V-Day party for girls. Forget Valentines, the colours and the outfits are gorgeous. Head over and enjoy!
Don’t forget that there’s only this weekend left to enter the Swoon Worthy giveaway – comment here to make your entries!
Speaking of competitions… how would you like to win two nights in Marrakech? Annabel from Love My Dress has a competition on this week in association with The State of Grace to win just that… it looks heavenly. Go enter!
It has been ALL over the twitter feeds and blogs of the fashion world, but I figured not all of you would have seen this acerbic fash-world parody so it was worth posting to provoke undignified snorting. I haven’t observed this kind of thing first hand, (oh to be a fly on the wall at any of the big Fashion Weeks,) but it reminded me so much of various US fashion reality TV stars that I had to share. If you have time, click through to the original part one and part two – I think part one is the funniest!
