What to Wear: The new colour block…

Today’s What to Wear is something I saw and just immediately loved. I’ve already featured it in this post, about the Bric-a-bloc new take on colour blocking trend and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the colour way feels fresh and new, and is a little bit 70’s with the neutrals and orange.

Skirt – Whistles // Organic Cotton Tee – Zara // Foldable Hat – Christys // Bag – Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sandals – Dune (old) // Bangle – H&M // Nails – Nails Inc: Toes – Flouro Portobello Road and Fingers – Strawberry scented sheer Henley Regatta //

The Whistles skirt is so easy to wear. I was in San Francisco when these were taken and wore it for a walk on the Embarcadero, breakfast, a spot of browsing in the farmers market then a longer walk to see the Sea Lions at Pier 39. It’s cool and has a really lovely drape to it, didn’t crease in my case, and works just as well with a white vest or later in the year I’ll be teaming it with a slouchy navy jumper.

For now however, I thought it was just begging to be paired with straw and I bought this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag in Macys during an awesome ‘Girls weekend’ promotion giving 25% off. Result. A bright flouro coral, I didn’t think it would work with orange but seems to take on an orange hue when the two are together, then looking pinker when I paired it with the coral and pink items I brought with me.

Look out for more about the hat… it was possibly my favourite and most useful holiday item, keeping my face out of the sun for the whole 12 days.

Love,
Rebecca

  1. Love this outfit! I realise now that I spotted someone in the dress of this pattern on the tube this morning but I love the skirt too! And the fabric looked lovely! Imagining nice chunky cardis would look good with this too in Autumn… Ooo tempting purchase.

Feeling envious of your Marc by Marc Jacobs purchase too!

  2. I so want this skirt to take with me to NY!! Why couldn’t you have shown it after I’d gone 😉 Sadly there’s none left in my size 🙁

    xoxo

  3. You wear it well Rebecca. Actually you ooze confidence and that’s why you pull off every outfit you have posted on here! Hats off to you (no pun intended ;-))

  4. Ooh yes this is gorgeous! I have been eyeing up the dress in the same pattern! YOu definitely wear it well – i struggle slightly with skirts worn on the waist as I have no waist!!! x

  5. I saw a bag in John Lewis on Monday which must be the high street copy of your Marc Jacobs beauty. I think it was by Nica. It made me think of you so I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this post!

Orange isn’t usually my thing but yesterday I purchased a T-shirt and nail polish in the very colour. I blame the Florence effect x
