What to Wear: Carrie does Denim.

Those of you who are particular Whistles aficionados or perhaps dedicated followers of fashion, may remember this skirt, the Carrie skirt by Whistles. It was a sell-out and I was lucky enough to snag one, but then actually haven’t worn it very much since. For no good reason at all, I couldn’t quite decide what to pair it with and so it was to sit in my wardrobe waiting to be let out until I finally picked up one of my Summer lust-haves, the chambray shirt, in the Dorothy Perkins Sale.

Shirt, Dorothy Perkins Sale // Skirt, Whistles // Bag, Mulberry // Necklace, Zara, Tiffanys // Shoes (old), ALDO

For a trip into town on a breezy day, the somewhat flimsy skirt seemed a bit more anchored and appropriate for the possibility of showers.

I paired them both with my go-to summer wedges… I really must look for another pair but they are insanely comfortable, and a touch of neon with my current favourite Zara necklace (also available in neon Coral) and not in the sale.

The skirt is so much fun to wear, particularly on a breezy day as it billowed and flipped up so prettily. It was the perfect partner to my trial Ciate nails Caviar manicure nail – ridiculously girly and full of fun.

My other quandary has been with my Bayswater, quite a blue-ish fuschia that I have so far chickened out of pairing with some of my other cooler toned pink wardrobe staples. I think it works quite well here though.

So have you been wearing any of last year’s key pieces again? I’d love to hear how…

Love,
Rebecca

  1. I love this! I did not get a Carrie skirt, but I did get a £7.99 rip off version from H&M (as seen at the FF afternoon tea!)

I was scared of the pleats at first but now wear it literally all the time, with ankle boots and a jumper in the winter, with brightly coloured tops and shoes at weekends and with pastel silk tops and peep toes for work! Who’d have thought a bright link swishy skirt would be so versatile.

Also – the caviar manicure… I WANT!!!!! Can we have a whole post on this? I want extreme close ups??? Or maybe an Instagram will suffice… :-)

Looking lovely as always in the pictures Rebecca! :-)

  2. I actually carried out a bit of wardrobe surgery this weekend by turning a super-summery maxi dress from a couple of years ago into a maxi skirt – much better for layering up in this not-so-hot weather. I thought it was better to have something that works practically for my everyday life right now, than cling onto something I can only wear when I’m abroad (not happening this year) or when the sun shines in Scotland (not happening… ever). I have to say, I was pretty proud of myself!

  3. Totally love this outfit and wish I owned all of it as usual! I think your baywater looks great with it and I second Victoria’s comment about the nail varnish!! :D

  4. Gorgeous look! I actually picked up the ss 2012 blue and yellow ‘meadow print’ version of this skirt in the sale, and while I love it to look at, it doesn’t really suit me (it’s the slightly longer length and hits my calf at a rather unflattering point) so will be returned. You totally pull off the original and best pink though!

I also found an elusive pair of the wisteria print trousers and I am in love!
