The Fash Flash: Statement Necklaces for AW12

This week, my thoughts have turned to the Cosmo Blog Awards on Thursday and the perennial what-am-I-going-to-wear saga. Although it’s nothing new, just recently I’ve been thinking how the right accessory can take a multitude of outfits from safe to stylish in one easy step. A classic dress, casual tee’s and shirts of all kinds can be dressed up with a statement necklace and it just so happens that they remain top of the trends for the coming season.

Look for bib styles (shorter lengths that sit just below collar level with a concentration of detailing in that area,) false collars, jewels combined with mixed metals and you won’t go far wrong. I’ve rounded up a selection of my favourites ranging from throw-away-fashion to investment pieces.

Topshop Gem Collar £45 // Ice Glam necklace, Bauble Bar, $36 // Pearly Opalite necklace, H&M, £14.99 // Teardrop Crystal and tube pendant, Mawi at, £450 // Three crystal square statement necklace, Anton Heunis at, £351 // Blueberry Statement Collar, Accessorize, £18 // (Black) multi sparkle tube necklace, Miss Selfridge, £20 // Crystal Bee’s necklace with gemstones, Zara, £19.9 // Bright pink and rhinestone necklace, River Island, £18 //

Have you spotted any stunning necklaces lately? (I’m all ears) or is it a statement-step too far for you to try?

  1. I LOVE statement necklaces and have quite a few – I was going to link them here but realised there are quite a few I have bought recently so put them all one one pin board for you! 😉 My favourite is the Primark chevron one which was only £6!!

My favourite above is that River Island one I think!

Also loving quite a few more on this pin board…

    I may have an addiction!!

  2. i love all the peter pan style collar necklaces that have been around recently-topshop had some really nice ones with pearly beads- and i am very jealous of everyone who can pull them off-i cant do earrings or necklaces, they make me look like im a 5 year old dressing up from my mum’s jewellery box 🙁 i suppose the one good thing is it saves me money to spend on other things…like shoes…and dresses..

  3. Why do I always like the uber expensive ones the best?

Love all the Peter pan collars around too but no idea how I’d wear one. Do you always need a plain round neck top/ dress/ jumper?
