Friday Frock O’Clock

This week’s frock was going on these very pages the second I clapped eyes on it. Each week, sometimes I have to actively hunt for a suitable Friday Frock that I love. It can feel just like those days you go shopping and there’s just nothing you can find that you like or looks good on you. Othertimes, I’ll be doing something different, stumble across a blinder of a frock and that’s the post done and dusted without a second thought. This was one of those dresses. Warehouse have really got their prints nailed this season and this is the kind of dress that I would buy to wear for days out, events or just getting dolled up at the weekend, then next year, I would transfer over into my work wardrobe to be paired with flats and a cardigan.

Multi fluro animal print dress, Warehouse, £70

It’s animal print but subtly done I think, the colours are great to take you through to autumn now. The cream backdrop but predominantly neutral and orange shades in the pattern mean you won’t feel ridiculous if you wear it somewhere this season, even if the day’s weather is less summer, more monsoon!

Well done Warehouse.

Happy weekend readers!

Rebecca

The Fash Flash… Think Pink

Just recently, I have seen an absolute onslaught of pink hitting the shops, and I’ve also seen it popping up all over the blogs, adorning the most stylish ladies and just generally making me want to wrap myself in it from head to toe. Pink used to be just a little bit un-cool, but it can certainly be done…

L-R Top Row: Fuchsia Dress, Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere in Pink on Pink on Pink, Camel and Neon. Bottom row L-R: Bubblegum jumper and striped skirt, Hot Pink Blazer and bobble hat, Emily again in pink pants and khaki jacket.

So I thought I’d do a little round up of items in the shops that you can combine into your outfits at home:

So come on girls, tell me what you think? Is pink for you? Or will you be sitting this trend out?

What to Wear: In the Snow

So, as you might know, I spent last week in Sestriere, Italy, ski-ing. Today’s What to Wear is really more of a ‘winter brights’ post, but hey, you can’t blame me for using the amazing natural backdrop to add a bit of contrast to this super bright ensemble, right?

Last week, I shared the GAP SS12 collection, (and psst! They currently have a 30% off denim promo!) and might have hinted that I was in love with the brights they’re all over for this season. I hot footed it off down there when I needed an extra jumper for ski-ing and pounced on this egg yolk bright, Yellow and Grey Broad Stripe number.

Jumper: Gap, Jeans: Warehouse, Striped Top: A&F, Hat: UGG boots. Sunglasses: Ray ban

It’s actually a cotton jumper, so perhaps not the best for ski-ing, but layered up with an older A&F stripe top also in grey then my bright blue jeans (see them here too) plus bright pink accessories, I was feeling pretty cheerful. That and first day of holiday and all 😉

Ah yes, the UGG boots. Are they still cool? I don’t know. What I do know is that despite appearances, mine are still WARM, and I love them. After three years hard wear (I did my home visits in them all through the snow last year and as long as it’s not slushy, they never get wet) the sheepskin lining is getting a little less soft and fat so I’m ready for a replacement, BUT they’re perfect for messing around in when it’s chilly.

Are you getting into brights yet?

And what’s your essential super cold weather item?

Lots of Sunshine yellow love,
Rebecca

The Fash Flash: Animal Magic

I couldn’t help but notice on my recent shopping research trips that there’s a huge trend right now for animal prints. Whether quirky and oversized or delicate smaller prints, I love the fun factor these motifs bring with them and how easy they are to incorporate into your wardrobe. Team a printed blouse or graphic jumper with jeans and you’re all set, or try a subtle touch with your accessories.

  • I love the humour in this Cat and Mouse print blouse – Hobbs NW3
  • A subtle (if possible) take on flamingos in another easy neutral shade – Pink flamingo jumper – Dorothy Perkins
  • For those who like to keep their style simple, stick with neutral shades and a classy motif. Cat jumper – Hobbs NW3
  • Remember the swallow print dress featured as a Friday Frock? Warehouse have resurrected it in blue this season and I love the midi-length to this dress. Skylark Midi-dress – Warehouse
  • Birds are everywhere again this season but are leaning towards tropical or cute, like this pair of owls… Owl belt – Hobbs NW3
  • You can’t get more graphic than this eye popping blue flamingo jumper (also in cream) – Dorothy Perkins
  • You’ve got to love a bumble bee and this pretty enamel pair will work hard to brighten up your wardrobe… Honey bee earrings – Hobbs NW3
  • And this is the one Florence loves… the Pink Toucan scarf – Dorothy Perkins

What do you think readers? Is this a trend you’ll be trying out? – I love it, hope you do too!

Love,
Rebecca

Spotted: Warehouse SS12

Last season one of my favourite high street stores was Warehouse, without a doubt. It really had every trend covered at a great price point and didn’t lack quality, unlike other high street brands.

So I was excited to see their take on the Spring/Summer 2012 collections and share them with you here. Last week, I was afraid some of you took me too literally when I shared Topshop’s SS12 collections. Throughout January I’ll be sharing other pre-season collections and hopefully you will see themes emerge and pick out some trends that you’ll be rocking come the warmer weather, whilst making sure that any early buys work for your Summer wardrobe too.

I couldn’t see myself wearing what basically amounts to pastels when I started to look at early SS12 pictures but I’m starting to warm to them, especially the clever mixing of tones within one colour palette and the flashes of neon accenting.

Sports chic is a trend that seems to surface regularly in fashion and I love this zippered nude top. The minimal details lend an expensive look to this trend.

Always a fan of print, I’m already thinking about how I can make this work in my wardrobe – my money’s on a printed pencil skirt, made wearable with a colour blocked top.

And lastly, the most wearable trend here I think. It’s got your occasion wear sorted, works for the formal office and feels the most familiar. Think Desperate Housewives and you’re there.

So, how are you feeling about this selection readers? I’d love to hear if you’re warming up to the trends and how you’ll be wearing them…

Friday Frock O’Clock

Scarf ornamental print dress – Warehouse

I’m so over the grey dull miserable weather and the first thing I do when I want colour in my life is seek it out in the form of new items for my wardrobe. This Warehouse dress perfectly nails every aspect. It has a dark backdrop between that riotous coral pattern so works with opaques and would look fab layered with a dark long length cardigan and then belted for casual wear or sky high heels for evening. And it has sleeves!

I do like multi function when it comes to my wardrobe 🙂

It’s the New Year so time to get into the swing of Friday Frock again! Post a link to the frock you are particularly coveting in the box below and lets waste the last few hours of the first working week in January. Is it just me, or has it been a really long one?!

Love,
Rebecca

The Fash Flash… Glitter Girl

It’s no secret, I’m a huge fan of glitter. Sequins, beading or lurex, I love adding a bit of glitter to every day style.

This season, there has been a huge trend to include sparkle into everyday outfits and that suits me just fine. I’m a particular fan of the trend when paired with super casual items like a chunky knit or jeans and there’s plenty of ways to accessorise with sparkle too if you like to keep it subtle.

So this week’s Fash Flash, in time for your Christmas lists and parties, is the glitter edition. I’m going to have a seriously hard time not spending a fortune after putting this one together!

So, are you a glitter girl?

Rebecca

Friday Frock O’clock

This week’s frock is another recent purchase and you might be sensing my obsession with wines, burgundies and deep red tones recently. Couple that with an ongoing love affair that I have with bird designs and this beautifully cut dress didn’t sit on the rail long as I passed it!

*Warehouse Silk Bird Print dress – £65

I bought it on a recent 25% off day at Warehouse but I think the pretty sleeves, eyelet back with tiny buttons and wrap over detail make it well worth splashing out on. I have worn it to work already with opaques and my cape(!) but could just as easily edge it up with my new boots or wear it to a dinner date in party heels. The only thing is, being silk it’s a wee bit chilly and I might have to look for a slip to wear underneath. Now I sound like a Grandma!

So, let’s while away the last few hours of the working week (man, am I in need of a drink tonight!) by sharing your recent frock purchases or lust-after items. I’ll even cheat and let you post something other than a frock because I’m feeling excited about the weekend!

Love,
Rebecca

PS Don’t forget, there’s a bonus post tomorrow for my weekend visitors!

The Fash Flash… Jumper Joy.

I love a good jumper, there’s just nothing like one, and this season, happily for me, apparently jumpers are the piece that is taking the fashion world by storm. Personally, I can’t help but think, ‘isn’t that what everyone wears every year when it’s cold?’ but far be it from me to dis’ a trend and therefore I’m rounding ’em up for you to purchase!

Friday Frock O’Clock

This week’s Friday Frock is all about the leopard and a taste of things to come next week. Leopard prints are absolutely everywhere this season and I think when a trend is massive like this there’s only one thing to do. Embrace it.

Warehouse-Leopard-print dress
*Warehouse Leopard print knit dress, £45

The potential barmaid look to this dress is softened by the looser shape and angora mix lending a bit more of the kitten and less of the sex-appeal. Team it with leather as shown here however and I won’t be responsible for the consequences!

At a bargain £45, you also won’t be feeling disappointed if you aren’t brave enough to wear it to death or leopard doesn’t live on next season.

Long live leopard.

Got a frock you’re lusting over? Drop a link or comment in the box below and let’s all see spots 😉

Love,
Rebecca.
