How I Wore: March

Hello there Readers!

Well wasn’t that a blustery weekend!? I really wish all the days could have been like Friday which was a perfect Spring day  here but no. Torrential rain, hailstones,l and galeforce winds prevailed. Oh well, at least there was Chocolate! And Roast Lamb. I think I prefer the latter…

On to “How I’ve Worn” March. The month has seen me return to work after 10 months Mat Leave. That went fast! I can’t deny its busy of a morning (understatement), and I’ve been pretty slack at taking daily photos, but my return to work outfits have mostly consisted of dresses which has been quite liberating after months of “one up one down”, plus they are a no-brainer of a put-together outfit.

Topshop Dress / Ash Boots

H&M Jumper (old) / George Skirt (old) / R&B Boots

I’ve also worn a fair bit of green. Don’t ask me why, I’ve just been drawn to it. Especially Khaki. Oh, and flat shoes. My  Apple Watch tells me I now walk around 14,000 steps a day, and that’s just my commute to and from the office now we’ve moved to basically Shoreditch. Any walking between meetings is extra. Heels are firmly in my bag to change in to these days!

Something new for me though has been on the beauty side of things – I introduced a darker lipstick into my make-up bag and I must say I’m rather liking it. Definitely one for more reds/oranges (Nars Red Sqaure being my favourite), this wine colour is really growing on me. The lipstick itself is also amazing. Very hydrating and good colour – from a brand I didn’t know. One to try if you are in the market for a new lippy. There’s a fab range of colours.

You’ll also see in the picture above my Mothers Day gift from all three of the guys in my life. An initial for each of them on different metals (Silver for R, Gold for C and Rose Gold for O). A very thoughtful, and unexpected, gift ūüôā

I’ll try and be better for April. I’m hoping that Spring will finally, well spring, so I can relegate the Opaques and boots for bare ankles and no socks at least!

Enjoy the last couple of days of the month and I’ll be back next week with my roundup.

What to Buy: November

Morning Readers!

I‚Äôm finding it really hard to believe it‚Äôs November already ‚Äď October seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. Also, I‚Äôm not sure about you, but the unseasonably warm weather has slowed my thinking about Christmas. Just last week I was in our garden hosting a Halloween party for 12 toddlers, none of which had coats on. However, true to it‚Äôs word, November is certainly feeling more wintery, so here are my picks of what you should be thinking about buying this month.

A Christmas Jumper

Bird / Bauble / Snowflake / Metallic
Now I know it may sound premature, but I ALWAYS leave it to the last minute and never get my hands on the one I want. I remember last year seeing a Sweatshirt with Christmas Puddings strategically placed in Primark in November, and regretting not buying it as soon as I saw it on Holly Willoughby during Celebrity Juice. FAIL.

But‚Ķ I‚Äôm not normally one for the ‚ÄúNovelty Jumper‚ÄĚ so here¬†are¬†some that are Christmas themed, yet still tasteful (in my opinion). Thanks go to a very good friend of mine who pointed out the Joules ones to me ūüėȬ†I really like the Bauble one as it has a hint of Markus¬†Lupfer¬†about it without the price tag. The Snowflake one also comes in a more festive red, but I rather like the Navy for¬†subtlety¬†and the Bottle Green one well, this doesn‚Äôt just have to be for Christmas!

Moody Florals

Trousers / Dress / Jumper / Skirt
I’ve noticed a fair few painterly dark and moody floral prints around, and being one of the trends for this AW there are some really nice ways to wear them. From some statement trousers (I LOVE THESE!) to a really easy to wear skirt that could be dressed up or down, now the weather is getting colder, something of this print would really transform your wardrobe. The tiny caveat in the above choices is the Jumper, but the floral embroidery on the sleeves and shoulders was just too beautiful not to include here.

The Blanket Coat

Navy / Green / Multi-Coloured
Call it what you like – a coat, a poncho or a¬†wrap – the ‚Äúblanket coat‚ÄĚ is a big statement for this season. Now, you could pullthis off by belting a large cozy scarf having draped it round your shoulders, but for some ready to wear versions, these are my High Street¬†favourites. The checks bordered with grey marl is my¬†favourite, perfect to wear over denim or black trousers, but the tassels and¬†colours¬†of the Per¬†Una¬†version take this trend to the letter.

Slogan Sweatshirt

Kiss / Ciao Bella / Feline /  Feminin
These aren’t going anywhere fast, and if you haven’t dipped into the trend already, now is the time to do so. There are some great versions available on the high street, meaning you can take your pick from something that perhaps is personal to you, to something a little more tongue in cheek. So easy to wear, they are the perfect finisher to your weekend uniform.

Over the Knee Boots

Zara / Russell Bromley
Seemingly everywhere at the moment, the new wave of these boots is much easier to wear. A flat, or small block heel, the lust-worthy Stuart Weitzman 5050’s are still probably among the most coveted, but there are some brilliant (and most importantly) affordable high street alternatives. This Zara pair is amongst my favourites available at the moment.

So, will any of the above items be on your shopping lists this month?
