Wear it Two Ways: Emerald

This year, What To Wear is getting a re-vamp. The point of me sharing outfits on Florence Finds has always been twofold. Firstly, it encouraged me to try new things, and I hoped it inspired you guys reading to take more risks with fashion and step outside of your comfort zone a little. Most of all I hope it gives you a little voyeuristic pleasure and inspiration for brightening your day with new sartorial choices.

However, this year I have got new objectives. Too many of my purchases were one hit wonders and I end up turning to the same key pieces over and over again. So What to Wear is now becoming Wear it Two Ways. For each post I’ll be showing how I have worn one key piece (sometimes old, sometimes new) in two different ways. I’m hoping it will inspire me to get more wear out of my purchases and you to mix up your wardrobe a little. 😉

The purchase in this case was a Reiss (sale purchase) jumper. Emerald green in colour, wooly and warm but with enough little details, (like the centre back seam and side split hem,) to make it wearable in other ways. First up I ventured into what is apparently a big trend this winter, tartan. It was perfect for a winter walk in snowy Wales a couple of weekends ago.

Of course there’s nothing unexpected about this look, but I thought I might feel a bit fuddy duddy and didn’t at all. I think it’s the shade that’s so versatile however as it’s just bright enough to work with a whole different colour pallet, and up the glamour.

This look was a product of colour pairing inspiration from Pinterest, and a vintage inspired silhouette. The contrast of thick wooly jumper and layered tulle with sequin embellishment completely changes the feel of the jumper. It’s a great winter date night look (that would be just as good with some black suede ankle boots,) thanks to the nipped in waist from a skinny belt and feminine silhouette.

So let me know what you think of the new feature and which look you prefer – will you be getting more wear out of your knitwear now?

Love,
Rebecca
