Monday Must Have: Charles Worthington Strength and Repair

I’m currently at a bit of an inbetween phase with my hair. Grown out for being a bridesmaid last weekend, it’s now hitting my collar bone and I am enjoying the flexibility the extra length brings. Over the hot summer though I have barely paid it any attention at all and got to the point where I really needed to start making more effort. So I was pleased to try out the new Strength and Repair range from Charles Worthington.

I’m happy to report, I really liked the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo lathered really well on the first wash and the conditioner felt rich yet wasn’t a pain to rinse out. Both of them had a gorgeous perfume-like smell that felt pampering and lovely to use.

The star of the show however was the Split ends Binder. Worked through the lengths after towel drying, it gave me a lovely full blowdry, with soft shiny hair that wasn’t flat or limp. My hair felt protected and nourished, and then I passed it to my sister for further testing and she liked it too.

As I’m in the market for a new shampoo and on a budget for the next few months, I’d definitely choose these. As someone who doesn’t buy many hair styling products because I’m often disappointed by their claims compared to the actual results, I really recommend the split ends binder for everyday protection and great results.

Will you give it a go readers?

Rebecca

Monday Must-Have: Glitter heels

When I created the Monday Must-Have series, it was intended to showcase a single item or type of thing that was on my mind at the time of writing. Maybe seasonal, maybe just a good ‘find’, it’s more often than not something I’m coveting or searching out because, without sounding overly dramatic, my life doesnt feel complete without it. Perhaps a little extreme but never were a truer word spoken than about these shoes. ;)

If asked, I would never consider myself a ‘shoe person’ when pitted against bags for example, however occasionally a particular style or shoe gets right under my skin. Carvela’s Gold Glitter shoe had me at ‘glitter’ and at the end of last week they went into the sale. Now a much more palatable £75, Antibes will live in your wardrobe for years just waiting to pep up some jeans for a modern spin on party wear, or teamed with an old faithful LBD or colour block dress, will feel anything but boring.

They are my Monday absolutely-MUST-have. And aren’t they the best thing you have seen so far this morning?

Monday Must-Have: Winter Warmers

I don’t know about you, but here in Manchester the weather has been terrible. It’s gone from beyond freezing to warmer but with constant drizzle. My new favourite item of clothing is a hat. I have several, but my favourite is a bright bobble hat.

I had my hair cut last week and it’s short enough to tuck right under a hat – a complete style-saver in the current damp conditions. It looks cute with a casual outfit, but unexpectedly chic contrasted with a neutral tailored coat.

My favourites are from GAP (I bought this ultra violet one this weekend at 40% off.)

Do you wear a hat in winter? What’s your favourite style?

Monday Must Have: Phone Cases with ears

How cute are these little guys?

£10 from Accessorize (and available for Blackberry too – so no favouritism here today!) you can choose from a black kitty, a cartoonish Racoon or fashionable fox.

I’m choosing fantastic Mr Fox. – What a great stocking filler?

Monday Must-have: The Embellished Clutch

Take it from me, this mornings Must-have is practically an essential. It looks about 5x as expensive as it actually is and is the kind of thing you will have for a very long time, I hesitate to say, maybe even forever.

In my opinion, you need only 2 evening bags in your wardrobe. A great black one that has a little detail to make it stand out but will basically go with anything, whatever the season or style. The other is a fabulous statement bag that will dress up any outfit, go with everything because it is so versatile and have everyone asking you where you got it. This is that bag.

All bags, Accessorize

The pansy bag is of course the object of my lust today, but when I found it I was so stunned by the rest of the selection at Accessorize I had to include more. The bags in there are incredible right now, the embroidery, the beading the gemstones, just out of this world. And the prices are equally astounding. If for whatever reason you want to detract from your outfit or yourself but have events to go to, then this is your answer. You’ll always fit your bag :)

Monday Must-Have: Fox and Crow Candles.

This morning, I’m delighted to be able to share something I’ve been wanted to shout about for a while now, indeed you may have read some of my tweets about Fox and Crow who make beautiful scented soy-wax candles. They contacted me a little while back to see if I would share their products and kindly sent me a sample which I was very pleased about. I love scented candles, don’t get me wrong, it’s so lovely being surrounded by gorgeous smells. Sometimes they can be over powering, sickly or headache inducing though so I was happy to recommend them having smelt it myself.

I was instantly smitten by the bronze foil embossed packaging and cute Fox and Crow logo, but I could smell my Lavendar Ice Cream candle before it was out of the box. Indeed it made my room at work smell beautiful and then did the same at home before I even lit it.

Just this week Fox and Crow secured their first stockist in London, Home & Kids, who also do mail order, so this is my tip to you readers – if you’re looking for Christmas gifts, stock up on these and your friends and family will not be disappointed! I’ll certainly be purchasing some :)

Happy Monday readers!

Monday Must-Have: Limited Collection Owl Eye Palette

This mornings find is an absolute steal and manages to tick all the boxes, being both budget friendly, lovely enough to feel like a treat AND perfect for keeping you stylish. Tough call? Not for this eye palette from M&S Limited Collection.

Limited Collection Owl Eye Palette – Marks and Spencer

I always think about changing my cosmetic choices around this time of year, choosing warmer colours reflective of natures changing palette. I love golds, muddy greens and warm browns, all covered in this palette with a navy and black shade for creating smokey eyes. I love how cute this palette is too with little owls on the smart navy compact, (it would make a lovely present too, don’t you think?) and it will look as pretty on your dressing table or in your bag as the colours will on your lids. Everything you need for Autumn beauty for just £7.50.

Get yours fast readers!

PS! There’s 10% off until the end of today on ALL Marks and Spencer’s beauty products (not just M&S brands) and if you spend £15 you get a free travel skincare kit. Another reason to treat yourself!

Monday Must-Have: Snakeskin Stiletto

This mornings must-have is a shoe that I am seriously coveting. I can imagine it with nearly every outfit I could plan for the coming season and it seems both modern and classic – The French 75 Snakeskin Stiletto by Whistles. The fact that it shares a name with my favourite cocktail only adds to it’s desirability in my mind.

There’s another reason for me choosing an item from Whistles today. You have until tomorrow at midnight to take advantage of the 25% discount in association with Grazia that Whistles run twice yearly. I know Whistles can be a bit pricey for many of you and 25% is a hefty discount (I always take advantage and save a significant amount when it is on,) so if there’s an item you’re lusting after ladies, then now is the time.

Monday Must-Have: Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay

Last Friday, I found myself unexpectedly at a loose end in the Trafford Centre and decided to take myself on a little, ahem, research trip around the beauty hall at Selfridges. Lo and behold, I found today’s Monday Must-Have, the new fragrance from Jo Malone, Blackberry and Bay.

I’m a huge fan of Jo Malone and not just because it’s a luxury brand. I don’t get on very well with perfume – the vast majority give me a headache, yet since I discovered Jo Malone, I’ve bought 3 perfumes in as many years (prior to that I’d worn the same 1 for the last 10 years,) and now I can tell you I’ll be purchasing a fourth.

Blackberry and bay is like a grown up version of the smell of Ribena, fruity and sweet but tempered with the freshness of the bay, I fell instantly in love… I think you will too.

Have you tried it yet?

Monday Must-Have: Rimmel Matte Top Coat

Last week when I headed down to London for Fashion week I found myself in a quandry over how to wear my nails. (I know, hard life…) I wanted something autumnal, nodding towards the coming season, and I didn’t have time to work on my recent painterly nail effect. Then I happened upon an old unmarked nail polish bottle that I was sent by a PR a couple of years back, before it was even released on sale.

I have to say, when I tried it back then, I wasn’t enamoured and only wore it once so I’m not sure what made me try again. But you know what? I Loved it!

Perhaps it was the contrast with the super glossy ring finger I painted, maybe it was the fresh take on Chanel’s classic Rouge Noir, either way I can see this is going to be a staple in my winter beauty wardrobe. And for £4.59 you can update your entire nail polish collection!

Who’s with me?

Love,
Rebecca

*Interestingly, just like glossy nails lose their shine as the days go on, the matte top coat seems to buff up the longer it is worn. I’d recommend reapplying the top coat every couple of days for a perfect matte finish.
