The Fash Flash: Splish Splash

Before even the first day was done of my Capsule wardrobe for Autumn, I realised i had made a grave omission (for Manchester dwelling anyway.) No wet weather gear. For autumn walks they are a must but there was enough torrential rain last week to make me want to wear wells every day of the week so there is going to have to be an amendment! I’ve bought a waterproof coat (more on that soon) and am digging out my Hunters. In the meantime, here are a few I found for you guys to waterproof your wardrobes with…

Joules flower print // Dark silver Chelsea boot wells, New Look // Joules Dog print
Strap detail wellington boot, Ted Baker // Original slim zip wellington, Hunter // Studded biker wellies, New Look
SeaSalt tideline Wellies // Hunter Tall stripe wellington boot // SeaSalt Yellow deck wellies

There are styles here for fun, city dwellers and pretty prints – all the bases are covered.

Are you a welly wearer?

Rebecca

My Month… June

The end of June is nigh which means Wimbledon, warmer weather (fingers crossed) and Barbecues with lots and lots of Rose. Or something like that. In the meantime, I’m looking back at my month, through my Instagram snaps. Enjoy!

  • Meeting up with friends post holiday for dinner at Australasia and wearing my new French Connection beaded top.
  • Nail kit out ready for the wedding we attended in Scotland at the beginning of the month, held in a marquee on the loch. See my print match outfit here and my destination guide here.
  • Trying out my new Bite lip colours – read the review here.
  • Toes in the sand at the beach wedding ceremony and embracing the traditional decor at the Glenfinnan House hotel.
  • Living in my Hunter Wellies…
  • Busting out my new Anthropologie forks for Michelle visiting for lunch and inspiring chat.
  • Visiting the Chanel nail bar in Selfridges Bull ring with my sister and choosing this peachy orange shade to take away with me (the polish is thrown in as part of the mani!)
  • Coldplay concert!
  • The gorgeous coral peonies I got from Blossom and the various shades of coral, pink, blush, peach, lemon and cream they turned as they aged.
  • Blue nails later in the month – Nails Inc Baker Street.
  • Admiring my handiwork from the Ruby Rhino furniture painting workshop – Did you read my review? There’s a special offer for readers booking onto the course!
  • I got my holiday Instagram snaps printed out @Firebox. Next thing, how to display them?
  • A pair of Zara sandals I lusted after but didn’t buy – did you know the Zara sale starts today?
  • Ahem, a sale purchase. Least said about that little splurge the better…
  • Finally getting round to making my accessories cupboard more useable and displaying my necklaces.
  • Loving this combination of deep lilac stocks with white freesia against the grey walls in our living room.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this months round up… what did June bring for you?

Love,
Rebecca

What to Wear: Red, White and Denim…

A couple of Fridays ago, my chosen friday frock was this denim shirt dress from Oasis. Those of you who bought it with 20% off in their dresses promotion will be glad to hear that it hasn’t gone into the sale yet, as was I, because I bought it the very day after featuring it.

Given the ahem, lacklustre weather we have been having of late, I’ve been struggling to really wear anything summery and have developed somewhat of a routine of changing into my pyjamas each evening before settling down in front of the computer. However, when I have been out, the denim shirt dress is the one I’ve been turning to time and time again.

Last week, on a lovely sunny morning, I wore it to go for a walk with my friend Zoe in some local woodland. My lightweight parka came out along with a another purchase from GAP, although more recent, this blue, white and red geometric printed scarf. Wellies were mandatory due to recent rain and I took full advantage by walking through all available puddles that weren’t already occupied by a dog or small child 😉

This weekend, out it came again, this time to visit my new nephew – a combined trip to also celebrate fathers day. This time, I decided to dress it up a bit more (although I’ll admit the heels later went by the wayside in favour of bright jelly flats…) with heeled loafers, a new neon necklace from Zara and a skinny leopard print belt.

Either way, I was reminded how versatile denim is and how great it looks with other primary brights, including my blue nails, painted especially to herald the arrival of a baby boy.

What’s your go-to outfit of the moment?

Love,
Rebecca
