At this time of year I’m always super keen to get into spring trends and one of the biggest this season is (again) going to be pastels. The only problem is, in high winds, belting rain and temperatures struggling to reach 5 degrees, it feels a little impractical to be breaking out the palest shades never mind the risk of looking like a fashion fool.
My solution until the sun comes back and the temperatures rise a bit is to use accessories to channel the look, namely these J.Crew-esque baubles in candy brights and sorbet shades at high street prices. As usual it’s Accessorize that have the best selection of well priced and well designed pieces with all of these on my spring wish list.
Before I share this lovely find, I just wanted to thank you all for your good wishes on Friday and over the weekend for our move… I’ll write more soon, but it went so well and we are very settled already and happy our new home – I cant believe we’re in and it’s ours! 🙂
You guys might have noticed me mentioning budget finds recently. Today’s find isn’t strightly budget, but it’s a great update for your wardrobe and not a bank breaker either. I love geometric deisgns and these organically inspired pieces made of wood and perspex from Wolf & Moon give a nod to nature for autumn with a colourful update. The earrings pictured are £22-35 and the other pieces from £22-50. I also love that they’re not mass produced or readily available – its lovely having something that not everyone has! Check out the whole collection (and previous collections) at Wolf & Moon.
This morning, I thought I’d do a what to wear with a difference… This is what real women wear. Women that I’m proud to call my friends.
Last weekend I went away for the night to Leeds for the long-awaited Do-of-Pen. Penny, our music guru here at Florence Finds, had organised a meet up for some lovely ladies who chat on Twitter and when the day dawned, of course, it was all about what to wear. I often go for fashion forward choices in my own what to wear posts, partly because I love to experiment, but partly because I feel obliged to practise what I preach. However, that doesn’t stop me from looking forward to every night out to see what people are wearing and this one was no exception! I thought I’d do a round up of what everyone else wore and maybe it would give you some ideas on how to switch up your accessories, make an unexpected colour pairing or just provide a damn good nosey!
The outfits are in colour order, as we (unintentionally) created a fabulous rainbow, of colour (and personalities) that worked beautifully together 🙂
Me: (The only one I have a photo of and it wasn’t taken on the night!) Remember the Friday Frock? Check in here for the dress details and the tights are Topshop, finished with Mac’s ‘Lady Danger’ orange-red lipstick and orange nails.
Before we move onto something serious this afternoon (and totally at odds with this tongue in cheek collection of lust-worthy and shamelessly material must-haves,) I thought it would be fun to put together a no holds barred, money-no-object list of ‘I wants’ and then I’d like to hear yours.
It’s always lovely to be treated to something you couldn’t normally splurge on, or perhaps treat yourself to something for a special occasion, but as my father-in-law says (and I don’t always necessarily agree with,) ‘the fun’s in the looking’, and boy did I have fun creating this list 😉
Feast your eyes ladies 🙂
The penguin hardback classics are popping up everywhere with their quirky cloth bound covers but it’s the The F Scott Fitzgerald collection I’m lusting after, with the deco foil designs in metallic shades to glam up my book case.
Monica Vinader is a recent obsession of mine, particularly the faceted slices of semi-precious stones she uses for lobe candy – (from Astley Clarke.)
It wouldn’t be a Christmas list without a design classic and for my new office, how about this corian and walnut desk from The Conran Shop. Its stylish lines would surely provoke constant inspiration?
There’s nothing more luxurious than shearling and this jacket is super soft, a stylish shade and insanely warm. Liora Mid-grey shearling jacket, Reiss.
For the (techy) love of my life, this beautiful iPad sleeve by Mulberry. Only the best for my baby 😉
To make life with Florence Finds even easier, a Macbook Pro would be a practical but stylish addition to my stocking please Santa, for swift on-the-move editing and lots of Skype face time conversations with everyone from Gemma, to Laura in Canada and my sister in Birmingham.
