Friday Frock O’clock

Ok, so this week’s frock was a tricky one. Not only has my head been turned by a fabulous jacket (so fabulous I couldn’t focus on frocks at all last night,) but it’s starting to feel like that in-between time. The sales are boring, we want colour, but it’s also freezing and completely inappropriate to be wearing fluro or pastels. The only thing pastel in my life right now is my legs.

So this Whistles polka dot number felt like a happy medium, it’s a ‘ticks all the boxes’ dress that could work for you in any way that you want it to. It’s also fashion savvy – get in early on the polka dots trend with season-appropriate colours and at a reduced price.

Do share your frock (or fashion) lusts this week.

(I promise I will share the jacket I can’t stop thinking about as soon as there is some appropriate weather!) 😉

Happy Friday everyone!

Love,
Rebecca

PS There’s a weekend post tomorrow for you… and I’d love it if you could stop by to participate – I need your help!

Spotted: Victoria by Victoria Beckham

I am somewhat partial to a dress, and I’m also a massive fan of Victoria Beckham’s now established transition from pop superstar to incredibly impressive fashion designer. Even better, her designs are seen on so many celebrities and although some of you might be surprised at this, look equally good on curvier ladies as women with a similarly petite frame to Mrs Beckham herself.

So it was with great interest that I heard last year that she was bringing out a diffusion line of, you guessed it, dresses. Aimed at a more accessible price point depending on how you look at it of £375-995, which is substantially less than her main line which runs in to the ££££’s.

If you’re not familiar with her usual style Victoria is famous for impeccably cut sheath dresses for seriously upmarket chic. The new collection is a departure from her usual in the biggest way, shorter, girlier, and more fun. Apparently, VB was inspired by Emily the Strange, a cultural point of reference that has totally passed me by, but the cute cat and moon prints aren’t lost on me at all.

I’m seriously in love. And whilst most of us aren’t lucky enough to be able to afford dresses like this for everyday, I think if you’re looking for a special outfit for say a wedding, a milestone birthday or event, there are some beautiful examples here that still retain a great deal of style quirk and statement appeal whilst remaining chic and stylish.

Bravo Victoria.

See more on the Victoria Beckham website… the dresses above are just my picks.

What are your thoughts readers? Do you like the collection?

Friday Frock O’Clock

Scarf ornamental print dress – Warehouse

I’m so over the grey dull miserable weather and the first thing I do when I want colour in my life is seek it out in the form of new items for my wardrobe. This Warehouse dress perfectly nails every aspect. It has a dark backdrop between that riotous coral pattern so works with opaques and would look fab layered with a dark long length cardigan and then belted for casual wear or sky high heels for evening. And it has sleeves!

I do like multi function when it comes to my wardrobe 🙂

It’s the New Year so time to get into the swing of Friday Frock again! Post a link to the frock you are particularly coveting in the box below and lets waste the last few hours of the first working week in January. Is it just me, or has it been a really long one?!

Love,
Rebecca

Friday Frock O’clock

Now I have to confess, I did not find this week’s frock – you did. Yes that would be you Lel!

As soon as I saw this one, I couldn’t believe I missed it out of my Party Frocks round up this week, and my goodness, Oasis have got some corkers when it comes to Christmas sparkle… get thee over there and don’t blame me for the damage 😉

Oasis sparkle mesh dress – £70

It’s been a long week readers, hopefully by now I’ll be sinking my toes into the new carpet and admiring my work, so join me in sharing the spirit of Friday Frock O’clock by pasting a link of the frock you’re coveting at the moment into the comments box below so we can all veg out and admire them!

Big TFI Friday Frock love,

Friday Frock O’clock

It’s back! Friday Frock O’clock, after the outcry last week when we briefly omitted it for a Friday Film, is back in its rightful place. Don’t you worry, we won’t be doing that again in a hurry!

Have I ever told you that I love GAP? And I love it particularly in the winter.

My obsession with colour and the fact that I live in a (b$*ody freezing) Victorian house, means that their cheerful 100% wool knitwear is a must purchase every year for me… along with the body warmers, scarves, wool socks… I could go on 😉

So this week’s frock, is less ‘frock’ and more dress, but fabulous all the same and perfect for the windy weather.

I love the way they have layered this one up with extra woolies… it’s an overdose of cosy! And I’ll take the boots too please.

Did I mention GAP have 30% off instore and online until Sunday. Which makes this purchase a mere £39.16 from £55.95. Get your Christmas shopping done early… or in my case, treat yourself to some things 🙂

Happy Florence Friday Folks,

Love,
Rebecca

PS. I guarantee, I’ll be pulling the above pose when I’m wearing it too!

Friday Frock O’clock

This week’s frock is another recent purchase and you might be sensing my obsession with wines, burgundies and deep red tones recently. Couple that with an ongoing love affair that I have with bird designs and this beautifully cut dress didn’t sit on the rail long as I passed it!

*Warehouse Silk Bird Print dress – £65

I bought it on a recent 25% off day at Warehouse but I think the pretty sleeves, eyelet back with tiny buttons and wrap over detail make it well worth splashing out on. I have worn it to work already with opaques and my cape(!) but could just as easily edge it up with my new boots or wear it to a dinner date in party heels. The only thing is, being silk it’s a wee bit chilly and I might have to look for a slip to wear underneath. Now I sound like a Grandma!

So, let’s while away the last few hours of the working week (man, am I in need of a drink tonight!) by sharing your recent frock purchases or lust-after items. I’ll even cheat and let you post something other than a frock because I’m feeling excited about the weekend!

Love,
Rebecca

PS Don’t forget, there’s a bonus post tomorrow for my weekend visitors!

Friday Frock O’Clock

Whoop! It’s Friday! And today’s Friday frock has been a loooong time coming.

Featured on the Dorothy Perkins ad campaigns and on the website for weeks and weeks now, I’ve been desperate to share it in Friday frock o’clock, but until last weekend, it wasn’t actually available. Now it is, and it’s a bargain, so place your orders folks!

*Dorothy Perkins Turquoise Deco Midi Dress, £42

I love a bargain, I love how bright and bold and fun this is. It’s striking, work appropriate, bang on trend in a midi length and perfect for playing after work… particularly on a Friday. 😉 I can see it colour blocked with a bright trench, or worn with black opaques and patent heels.

So what do you think?

And what’s your frock this Friday?

I’ll be wearing mine from work to play tonight… see you at the bar 🙂

Love,
Rebecca.

Friday Frock O’clock

Today, Black is Back.

You won’t see many black dresses on these here pages, mainly because I have a massive aversion to black. I know that so many women are completely addicted to it, it’s slimming, it’s classic, it’s work wear… I know, I know, the list goes on. I don’t even mind seeing other people in it, honestly. But when I wear it, I feel funereal.

However, being Halloween, I decided to look for a little black dress because I know there are tons of gorgeous ones out there (I even see them sometimes and think… I would so wear that, if I wore black,) and they are so popular. I intended to find a work-wear dress, maybe something for day wear… and then I found this baby.

Seriously? Once I caught sight of her ruffles? I was toast.

I strongly suspect that you have to be of epic proportions to look good in this dress, all legs and magnificent height, but the picture above is enough to sell it to me! Ted Baker always do amazing party dresses (with amazing prices!) and there’s never a season that I’m not lusting after one of their creations.

So, it’s Friday, time for you to share your favourite frocks – a black theme this week. Anything you’re lusting after, purchasing or wearing, let’s while away the last couple of hours of Friday by leaving a comment we can all look at before the weekend!

Love,
Rebecca.

Friday Frock O’Clock

We’re going full on glamour this week, with this stonkingly sexy dress from the geniuses over at Reiss.

I feel it’s a little out of keeping with the season… October and November, what with Halloween and Bonfire Night, are kind of snuggly jumper months with boots and the like, but I’m hoping to have a very fancy party to attend shortly and as such will need a fancy dress. This has got fancy written all over it, don’t you think?

Reiss Cecille Halter Dress
*Reiss Cecille Grey Halter – £225

Thigh splits seem to be all the rage at the moment and there’s not much call for them day to day but if you’ve got it flaunt it I say – this would look fabulous with a toned pair of pins. 🙂

I’m also in awe of the 70’s vibe and the print – it’s described as a ‘smudged moth print’ but I think it’s got more than a hint of the snakeskin look to it and (now that we’ve done leopard love) that’s my new favourite print crush. Very Bond-tastic.

Ok, so now it’s your turn. As will be customary, the point of Friday Frock O’Clock is that you all post a frock that you’re seriously coveting. As it’s the first week, I might widen the net a little to any lust-after fashion item. Or maybe you’d like to share something you’re actually wearing this weekend, then we all get to while away the last couple of hours of the working week doing a little dress perving instead.

You know you want to…

Love,
Rebecca.

Friday Frock O’Clock

Just a little reminder this afternoon that it’s still 20% off at Whistles in association with Grazia Magazine.

Get your copy now and get shopping.

In view of this, this week’s dress is a Whistles number, the Adele Double leopard spot dress. I love the print and the flippy skirt. 🙂

So what’s your Friday Frock going to be?

Love,
Rebecca.
