Friday Frock O’clock

Right now, ASOS has 25% off dresses. When they’re already well priced, that means super bargains are there for the taking. Instead of outdated wintery styles as you so often get in mid-season sales, there are some dresses perfect for stocking up on for summer holidays and events, so I thought I’d pick 4 favourites today.

Friday Frock O’clock

Halterneck floral dress from MANGO £44.99

This weekend Pete and I are going to a summer ball with some friends. I’ve ended up opting for a dress that I’ve had a while but love – a great Ted Baker grey heavy silk maxi with a gorgeous floral print. However, I have had my eyes open for a potentially suitable dress as I have a few parties coming up and a very special hen do. I found today’s MANGO dress on that search and fell for the short and sweet hem line (who doesn’t love flashing those pins?) the flirty back and dreamy floral print in sorbet shades. Another winning feature of course is the ability to conceal a less than perfect tummy, particularly if eating is on the agenda. 😉

Even better, it’s a total steal at £45! Get in quick – there are no 8’s left, but all the other sizes are up for grabs.

Have a great weekend readers 🙂

Rebecca

Friday Frock: What to Wear for The Biggest Night of Your Year

Today I’m signing off for Christmas, not before sorting out one last sartorial dilemma however! Florence Finds will be back to normal service on 2nd January and in fact I have something rather special to brighten up your January. In the meantime I’m making no promises and will blog as and when I have something to share, so keep your eyes on Twitter, Facebook or check back here when you have a bit of down time. You can also follow my Christmas on Instagram. (This is a web link if you don’t have Instagram on your phone.)

When I wrote the title to this post, I was alluding to your New Years Eve dress. If you’ve got somewhere to go, then your frock has to be something special for this most celebratory of nights. In fact, my biggest party of the year was a 30th Birthday for one of my good friends. A super stylish lady, I wanted to make an effort and found the perfect dress in the ASOS sale.

La la Lashes // Midi Dress with Holographic Embellishment (On Sale at £72 from £120!) // Faux Panther Clutch Bag // Shoes, Nine West (old) // Nails: ESSIE ‘Leading Lady’.

I had swapped my usual Zara clutch with my Mum to complete a wedding outfit for her the same weekend and used this Faux Panther Clutch of hers instead. I loved the slightly wild look to the decadent muscular panther clasp with subtle sparkle collar detail.

Of course, aside from the sparkle, the talking point of this dress is the back, or rather lack of. (And before anyone asks… I went without.) Teamed with a vampy blood red lip and Christmas nails, I felt super glamorous.

Of course, no party is complete without glowsticks and eye lashes. These lashes are by La la Lashes – the lash itself is quite a subtle effect but they are dusted in fine glitter and as a result when the light catches your lashes and with every blink, you get a subtle sparkle – they’re a cheap way of upping the glam factor if you don’t have a new dress to wear 🙂

Happy weekend readers!

Friday Frock O’clock

Before we get on with the important business of Friday Frock this week, I need to announce the winner of our Emma Bridgewater mug giveaway.

Congratulations to Vivienne who was the 26th commenter! Randomly selected by Random.org

Vivienne, I’ll drop you an email and put you in touch with the lovely Emma Bridgewater team over the weekend so you can get your hands on your mug – send us a picture when you have it!

Now, on with Friday Frock…

I had actually chosen a different frock for today as it’s almost firework night and I was taken with a sparkly dress that reminded me of the colours you see in fireworks. However, it didn’t look great online and I found this Warehouse lattice back dress instead which I love. I don’t have anything with this high-low hem as yet, despite it having been a big trend for many a month now, but I particularly liked the lattice effect top and back, which is strikingly graphic, yet subtly sexy. For those of you worrying about bra’s for backless or low-back items like this, this one is my go-to for sticky situations. 😉

And, wait for it, you could always layer with a jumper in the day time or cooler weather. Well, it wouldn’t be a friday frock if I wasn’t thinking about all the things you could do with it would it?!

Happy weekend folks,

Love,
Rebecca

[Friday Frock] What to Wear: In Vegas

Sometimes you just have to dress for the occasion and today’s frock comes straight at you, literally right between the eyes, from Vegas baby.

I had a preconception about what Las Vegas would be and I don’t think I hit far from the mark so today’s choice was perfect. I have a real weakness for white dresses. In the same way blondes can make black look glamorous, I love contrasting white with my darker skin and hair, so come summer in the season of white gaining ‘cool’ status again, I was looking forward to finding something that would be wearable for me.

Lace back dress – Zara £35.99

I’m also a firm believer in choosing one focal point if you’re going to bare some skin. Since body-con is no longer a taboo, in recent years I’ve tended to bare my legs with short dresses in looser styles, but my favourite part of my body, the part that never lets me down come extra pounds or not, is my back. So I totally fell in love with the sweeter-than-sweet crochet back to this otherwise rather racy dress.

You know what they say, ‘What happens in Vegas…‘ and I think this is exactly the kind of dress to sum that phrase up. It took me from dinner to bar to the roulette tables and beyond… 😉

Find it in Zara for £35.00. I teamed it with metallic accessories, sky-high heels and modern jewellery, (the earrings were a £3 bargain from Miss Selfridge,) and of course a touch of neon on my nails. Nothing else would do in Las Vegas.

Have a great weekend readers!

Friday Frock O’Clock

We’re going full on glamour this week, with this stonkingly sexy dress from the geniuses over at Reiss.

I feel it’s a little out of keeping with the season… October and November, what with Halloween and Bonfire Night, are kind of snuggly jumper months with boots and the like, but I’m hoping to have a very fancy party to attend shortly and as such will need a fancy dress. This has got fancy written all over it, don’t you think?

Reiss Cecille Halter Dress
*Reiss Cecille Grey Halter – £225

Thigh splits seem to be all the rage at the moment and there’s not much call for them day to day but if you’ve got it flaunt it I say – this would look fabulous with a toned pair of pins. 🙂

I’m also in awe of the 70’s vibe and the print – it’s described as a ‘smudged moth print’ but I think it’s got more than a hint of the snakeskin look to it and (now that we’ve done leopard love) that’s my new favourite print crush. Very Bond-tastic.

Ok, so now it’s your turn. As will be customary, the point of Friday Frock O’Clock is that you all post a frock that you’re seriously coveting. As it’s the first week, I might widen the net a little to any lust-after fashion item. Or maybe you’d like to share something you’re actually wearing this weekend, then we all get to while away the last couple of hours of the working week doing a little dress perving instead.

You know you want to…

Love,
Rebecca.
