Where previously I had always thought that knee high boots were the way forward, for seasons now ankle boots have been striding to the forefront of fashion. A few of you have mentioned looking for the perfect pair this season so I thought I would do a round up of a few I have seen, (courtesy of a shopping trip with Francesca for the perfect ankle pair.) Of course you’ll need them in brown and black, 😉 or why not try a mid greige shade to work with either tone?
*I’ve had a bit of a play around with the design of Florence Finds this weekend, installing a new header and some new blog buttons on the right, so you can easily find me in all my usual social haunts online. I really felt like I wanted a more cohesive feminine yet modern colour palette, that better represented the blog. Have a click around and let me know what you think – I hope you like it!
For a long while now, I’ve been coveting these Ash ankle boots. I knew I would get tons of wear out of them and (ignoring that the suede isn’t all that spring appropriate,) they are perfect while the weather remains chilly. I wanted to find that perfect mink/greige shade too that would work with greys but not look out of place with warmer toned items. I almost ordered them online but really wanted to try the fit so went in search of them this Saturday. I was unsuccessful but stumbled across 2 other takes on the trend that I loved.
The Whistles pair above I bought and actually returned, as they were a little too smart for what I wanted them for. They were however ridiculously soft and comfy. Office eventually came up trumps with a great take on the Ash pair at less than half the price. I’m wearing them with my coloured skinnies this spring and later I’ll be pairing them with a summer dress for a festival vibe. And at a high street price I won’t be precious about treating the suede with a scotch guard then getting on with wearing them whatever the weather, instead of worrying about potential rain!
This afternoon I have something rather exciting for you… the chance to win a pair of black leather wedge heeled, sheepskin soled UGG boots.
At London Fashion Week in September, I was invited to view the UGG collection at The Handpicked media suite at One Aldwych. Only the week before I had found out on a shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks where I happened upon the UGG outlet, that UGG made more than the classic boot it is famous for and in fact had a fantastic collection of heeled and flat, leather, suede and sheepskin shoes.
I was really blown away by the range and breath of styles there are to choose from. More than that, they’re not just pretty. True to UGG’s roots, many of the styles have sheepskin soles or are fully sheepskin lined so you know they are going to keep your toes warm through all the crazy weather we seem to get these days. Pricing is reflective of quality and I think they’re well worth the investment. Ankle boots start around £140 and knee length riding boots are just over the £200 mark. Christmas lists anyone?! 😉
Most exciting for you guys is that I have a pair to give away today to one lucky reader. If you have Size 6.5 feet, you could win this gorgeous pair of black wedge heeled boots, with super cosy sheepskin soles.
Ways to Win
1. Go to UGG Australia’s UK site and view the ladies collection then leave a comment sharing your favourite style here in the comments box below.
2. You can have one extra entry by sharing the competition (link to this post) with your friends on your Facebook page.
3. If you’re on twitter, share the link to the post and use the hashtag #UGGAustraliaUK for another entry.
To clarify – if you do all three of the above, you will have 3 chances to win.
The competition is open until midnight Sunday 25th November and I will announce the winners in the following week. Entrants must be UK based. Only one pair of size 6.5 boots is available. Winners cannot exchange the style or size of the boot.
Good luck readers!

As we are firmly into boot territory and the weather continues to deteriorate I thought it would be a good idea to make some flat boot suggestions. Maybe I’m getting old, but the idea of tottering around in heeled boots in the winter seems like a terrible idea. I’m more than prepared to invest in a pair of lovely boots that I know I’ll be wearing day in day out for the next 5 months or more. When you put it like that, it’s worth forking out for a really good pair (my money’s on the All Saints pair here) that cost-per-wear will practically make money for you 😉
