Saturday Survey

Happy Weekend readers!

This weekend I’m getting away for some R&R with Pete for the start of his 30th birthday celebrations next week. While I’m away, I hope you guys will get a moment to comment on the Survey series I started last week. This week we’re focusing on fashion and don’t forget this is your chance to have your say and tell me what you would like to see here on Florence Finds. Thank you so much for stopping to fill it in and I hope you enjoy my five things this week 🙂

Five things:

Firstly, a new addition to the site… the subscribe button in the right hand side bar. Here’s where you can sign up to receive a weekly round up email into your inbox once a week (we won’t bombard you with email junk I promise!) and keep up to date with all of Florence’s posts. Gemma’s going to be taking care of this and let me tell you, the draft round up she prepared was brilliant – don’t miss out on exclusive Florence news and firsts, sign up today 🙂

My two latest lipstick purchases – Mac’s ‘Lady Danger’ (matte orange-red) and ‘Impassioned’ (intense neon coral pink)

I found a new online magazine to fall in love with… 91 Magazine. There seem to be more and more online mags popping up but what I loved about this one was its heavy lean towards interior style and the crafting theme throughout. This is no glossy full of aspirational style, but affordable, DIY and achievable inspiration. Go take a look!

Started a bit of new season wardrobe reassessment and was pleased to find how much nude and faded neon I had ready to wear!

Did you enter the Mr & Mrs Smith Giveaway yet? Entries close at Midnight on Sunday – look out for the winner on Monday!

Five Questions:

  1. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)
  2. How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
  3. Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)
  4. Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
  5. Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

Just copy and paste these five questions into the comments box and add your responses. Thanks so much in advance!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Love,
Rebecca

  1. 1. I like it when you showcase your new outfits and the editorial explaining your inspiration for the styling. I like the posts where you feature in the photos.
    2. I spend about £200 a month on clothes
    3. I prefer to spend on quality items so stick to high street stores like Reiss, Whistles, Aubin & Wills. A bit of vintage and the odd sale purchase from net-a-porter.
    4. Not bought anything featured, but have the Carrie skirt pictured
    5. I think Twitter would be a good place to let people know about discounts and offers.

  2. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?
I really like Friday frock o clock and the pictures of your latest purchases – it is good to see real clothes on real women I think.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
Oh godd… well this month I spent about three hundred quid as I hit the sales, but I have given myself a monthly budget of £100 going forward.

    Quality or quantity?
I like to mix it up. I bought a Mulberry handbag which although was expensive, it goes with everything and I literally havent even looked at another handbag since. I tend to wear it with more disposable ‘trendy’ items, such as tops, jeggings, tea dresses and skirts from places like Peacocks (boo hoo), New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Marks and Spencer. I veer towards expensive shoes but I try to buy these when they are reduced.

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
Yes – the blue dorothy perkins art deco dress featured on friday frock o clock.
Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
On the blog – not too fussed about these to be honest, maybe one per week would be a good amount to feature.

  3. 1. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

Probably both. I probably don’t read the fashion as much, just because fashion is a very personal thing. So on that basis, probably the whole collection pieces from the same designer as I’m more likely to find something I like.

    2. How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
Varied. Sometimes nothing, if I’m too busy to go shopping. Or sometimes hundreds (and maybe a bit more if I’m shopping for work). I can’t online shop because I find my 1950’s housewife figure so hard to shop for and shopping on a weekend gives me a migrane.

    3. Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)
This has changed since I’m older. I REFUSE to go in Primark (even for tights). I’d buy my essentials (pants, tights, work shoes) in M & S and go more high end for key pieces but would buy something classic I know I could wear for years. I’m loving Reiss at the moment though, their dresses are classic but I find their suit collections a bit too trendy and their trousers likewise. Simply, I’m too lazy to constantly shop. I recently ordered 25 of the same shirts, same colour, same size. Pathetic I know.

    4. Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
No, I think we have quite different tastes in fashion i.e. you are trendy and cool and I am NOT. Saying that some of the collections have made me look in the designers collections and think about buying though.

    5. Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
Probably the blog as whilst I’m on twitter it moves very fast for my liking.

  4. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?

100% The ‘what I’m wearing’ posts, I think its far better to see real women in their own clothes! I also like Friday frock.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

Varies depending on if I have events to go to but probably around £150-£200

Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)

I love the high street especially when they do a good take on a designer piece. Probably 80% of my wardrobe is Zara, I have been a massive fan for years as everyone would always ask ‘where is that from?’ but disappointed that everyone shops there now :-(. I will splurge for a special occasion or if I really like something otherwise I love nothing more than finding a bargain!

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

    Not yet.

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

    Not really if I’m honest.

  5. Five Questions:

1.Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

I love all of the fashion section a little bit too much, but I particularly look forward to Friday Frock o’clock!

2.How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

It depends on the month, sometimes I’ll just buy one or two low priced key things like tshirts etc but if I’ve got a little bit more I might go a little wilder 😉 not so crazy that I can’t feed my son though,
    I promise!

    3. Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)

I think it depends on the product, for certain pieces I think it’s worth paying the extra to get better quality and more wear out of it.
I can never splurge on anything designer as I don’t have the money for that but sometimes I might go for the pricier high street things.

4.Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

    Not yet unfortunately 🙁

5.Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
    Twitter or on the blog

    Aime x

  6. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

It’s the Outfits category for me – both Friday Frock and your gorgeous outfits – très inspiring.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
    Quality or quantity?

I probably spend £150 a month averaged out. I usually go for quality over quantity but mostly buy in the sales.

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

Not yet, although the faded neons on here influenced my purchase of a Whistles t-shirt!

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

    Not too bothered about this.

  7. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)
Really like the Fash Flash and your Friday frock posts. Its good to see a round up of pieces from lots of different stores, rather than just one place.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
Depends. Anything from nothing to a few hundred a month, probably averaging at £100 a month at most and that will include bags and shoes. I have a separate mental jewellery budget and often will splurge more on that than an item of trend led clothing as I’m likely to get more wear out of it.

Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)
The older I get (am early in my early thirties) the less I buy and what I do buy tends to be at a higher price point. This is partly driven by work – I need to look professional and together and the fabric quality and cut can really make a difference – but also I don’t really like shopping on the High Street – I don’t have time and the ranges aren’t extensive where I live – so I shop a lot online.

For example over the last year my major buys have been good cashmere (some in the sales) and a couple of leather bags. (However we have been rennovating a house in the last 12 months, so I have bought less clothes than I might at other times).

I’m happy to splurge but only when I have to know I’m going to get a lot of wear from them as I try to think about things I’m going to spend more on as “everyday luxuries”, which reduces the overall “cost per wear” sums!

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
Not as yet, but your Gap Parker came close to being my first recommended purchase.

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
Get a lot of this content from other sources already, so would rather see it on facebook or twitter where I can see it if I want, but wouldn’t want my feeds cluttered with these though. Maybe good to focus on snap sales and exclusive codes that could be missed.

  8. 1.Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

I prefer the round up of current trends – and then I can pick a piece from it that I really want to buy!

2.How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

Depends how much I’ve bought the month before! Sometimes I dont buy clothes for a while and sometimes I splurge. Definitely up to £50 on average.

    3.Quality or quantity?

I’m more about quality now and have started investing in much more classic wear that will last me, though I still buy some on-trend pieces, depending on what they are.

4.Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

Yeap, I bought the black version of a blush coloured dress that was featured on Friday Frock O’Clock from Oasis.

5.Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

Yes please, Facebook would be good.

    Mahj xoxo

  9. 1. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

I think I probably like the Fash Flash best, I like to see lots of options in a particular trend, but I also really like the posts where you show your outfits and how you put them together.

    2. How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

I am really really variable from nothing (looking likely this month) to a maximum of probably £200

    3. Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)

Have never splurge on anything really expensive, prefer high street but like the mid-top end, I’m trying hard to avoid anything too disposable, currently it makes me feel guilty.

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

Not yet but I’ve promised myself that green warehouse skirt (assuming it looks half as nice on me as it does in the picture)

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

Maybe – probably either on twitter or facebook

  10. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?
    – I love seeing your outfits because it makes me think about what I’ve got in my wardrobe and how something might look on me.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
    – Probably about £50 every two months

    Quality or quantity?
    – I try to go for quality, but my budget is quite low!

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
    – Not specifically, but I have started looking at shops that you recommend.

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers
    – Yes please! Facebook probably.

    xx

  11. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?
Love it all…. And reading everyone’s comments too.
How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
Averages out to about £100-150 a month. This month nothing having bought two coats in December.
    Quality or quantity?
Quality – though very happy with quantity if at a market second hand stall.
Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
Not yet in clothes but have just bought the John Frieda blow dry serum as my new replacement and would have bought the nail speed dryer brand if Boots had it, but I did buy a different brand.
Would you want to hear about discounts and offers
Twitter or just as an extra post on FF. Not a fan of Facebook.
ps I love 91 Magazine and online magazines.

  12. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?
I like seeing what you wear and what colours you would team together, mostly because you have must more gutsy fashion sense than I!

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
I can go up to £200 in a month but then nothing for the following couple of months. I don’t buy clothes often.

    Quality or quantity?
Quality now – had a big shift in the last couple of years. no more disposable fashion for me – both because of ethics and also because I was fed up of short-term fashion. The highest end I go is LK Bennett – because my salary doesn’t justify anything more costly (otherwise I would!)

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
Make-up yes, clothes no. But I’m thinking seriously about the Victoria Beckham collection you featured – there’s a stunner of a red dress there – as a 30th birthday present.

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
I don’t read FB much so would like to see it on the blog.

  13. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?

Ohhh love them all but favs are the round ups and the Friday Frock. I love dresses so I’m guessing that’s why I love the Friday feature (not just because its Friday x)

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month? Really varies – can be hundreds but can also be nothing!

Quality or quantity? Mainly quality but with a few cheap fashion pieces thrown in to update looks. Favourite shops are Reiss, French Connection and Ted Baker

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds? Yes an Oasis dress you featured 🙂

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?) To be honest I already get loads of them via email so only if you were featuring it anyway.

  14. Which is your favourite type of post?
I like the Fash Flash and What I’m Wearing Posts best.

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
It varies, but probably averages out at £100-200 per month.

    Quality or quantity?
A mixture – I prefer to buy higher end handbags (I confess – I have a Mulberry addiction and this month I bought myself an Alexa bag!). I have been known to purchase designer shoes and jewellery, but would mix these with high street purchases. With clothes, I’d go high street for the most part – anything from New Look via Zara and Topshop to Reiss and Whistles – with the odd designer purchase thrown in (but for jeans and coats only). Apart from the handbags, I try to wait for the sales to buy my designer purchases.

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
Not yet, but I almost succumbed to the red Reiss trousers you featured last week (just wasn’t quite brave enough!), and if money were no object I would SO have that Issa maxi dress!

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers?
Yes, but think Twitter is the best place to put them, or failing that, tagged on to the end of a blog post.

  15. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post?

I enjoy all of them, and am unsure if I have a favourite… I do like the what you wore ones though – love seeing how people put outfits together!

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

It completely varies – for instance this month, I’ve spend about £50 but sometimes it can be a lot higher (especially when shopping for the new season/special occasions/holidays)… if you averaged it out, probably about £200 ish?

    Quality or quantity?

A bit of both – am getting more into quality pieces that I know will last, but I still like throwaway fashion so things I know I’ll only wear for the current season

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

Not clothes-wise, but I already have a few things that you have featured. I did take inspiration from your Christmas gift guide and the Bobbi Brown set though and bought from there!

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

I get plenty through email, so for me I would only really be interested if it was something high-end/designer. (Slightly off topic, but any interiors deals would go down a treat – especially furniture wise!)

    xoxo

  16. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

I think I’d have to say Outifts… It’s great to see how trends work on a real person with a self-developed style as that makes me think of how to re-juggle my own wardrobe to give hints of a trend rather than following something exactly – love Friday Frock O’Clock as well!

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

At the moment unfortunately my clothes spend is dictated by need rather than want i.e. Networking outfits, upcoming weddings, birthdays etc. So it varies but I’d say around the £50 – £100 mark.

Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)

Again, this depends on the nature of my shopping trip – for a bunch of outfits I will go for throwaway chic, for a particular mission I’ll go higher end – for the months that I’ve made a nice bonus – Reiss!

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

I’ve bought Florence inspired items such as blouses after seeing a few pics of Bec sporting them.

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

    All of the above!

    xx

  17. I had better start with a small disclaimer, I’m not a fashion person AT ALL (in fact the reason this reply is so late is because I almost wasn’t going to respond to this one because it’s so not me!) so please don’t be offended by anything I write!

1.Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

Like your own ‘what I’m wearing’ things because it impresses me to see someone who makes such an effort with their outfits and carries it off well without looking like a fashion victim. I’m not too bothered about any of the other fashion stuff

2.How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?

It varies, if I do a big shop at one of my fave places it could easily be £200 in a month but then nothing/not much for a few months. Currently not bought any new clothes since November and not planning to as am moving house! I guess overall average would probably be £75/month

3.Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?)

I suppose most of what I buy is high street, my staples are usually from M&S and going out type stuff from Warehouse and Oasis. The shop I buy from most of all is White Stuff which I would call mid-range based on prices but it’s certainly not high end. I’m not a designer person at all, I only own a Mulberry handbag because a friend gave me her secondhand one, I can’t even comprehend spending that much money on a bag!

4.Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?

    No

5.Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)

Facebook I guess -not on twitter and get too many emails as it is!

  18. Within the Fashion category (in the menu above) which is your favourite type of post? (i.e. New collections from individual designers or shops; The Fash Flash – round ups of pieces for a specific trend or Outfits?)

I like Outfits but the trend roundups are pretty cool too

How much would you normally spend on clothes in a month?
Well currently not a lot of dosh going spare. I guess less than £50

Quality or quantity? (Do you prefer trend led disposable fashion at lower prices or classic well made pieces and fewer of them? Do you ever splurge on designer/higher end goods?) I tend to stick to cheaper clothes, I know its often a false economy but cannot jusify expensive clothes. Will buy from Primark, Peacocks, New Look, Dorothy Perkins (probably my favourite shop), and Next. I also like Zara, Oasis and Warehouse… Topshop has gone a bit crazy for my liking…. I drool at Reiss and LK Bennett dresses but alas not in my budget

Have you bought anything featured on Florence Finds?
No not yet…. only the Garnier Beauty Balm (which is fab by the way)

Would you want to hear about discounts and offers (and if so how – on the blog/twitter/facebook/emails?)
Yes please! Probably blog or emails… as Becca said, Twitter moves a bit fast and I would probably miss them on their, same with fb….
