My Christmas…

Good morning readers!

So, how was it? I feel like I’ve been away for ages and I’m dying to have a good catch up with my girlfriends! That has to be a good sign that I’m enjoying Florence Finds.

I couldn’t kick us off into the post-Christmas/pre-New Year lull without sharing some of the lovely gifts I received this year and I’m hoping that you’ll be wanting to share one or two (or maybe the whole list like me!) of yours?

  • From Pete… the Monica Vinader Green Gold Quartz earrings – AstleyClarke.com.
  • It’s not quite the Macbook from my fantasy gift list 😉 but I’m loving getting to grips with my new Apple Magic trackpad mouse – I’m a sucker for new technology!
  • I was so excited to receive the Laura Mercier Illuminator I mentioned in my beauty gift guide, but it’s so pretty I don’t want to spoil it by using it!
  • I don’t normally get cleaning products for Christmas, but this was a stocking filler from Pete as I love my other e-cloths and he completely wrecked slightly damaged mine during the decorating… e-cloth + painting = upset Rebecca.
  • M&S biscuit tin
  • Now my hair has gone back to being short and sassy (read completely unsalvageable with a bobble on rainy days,) I needed a rain hat and think I’m going to look very Inspector Gadget in this trilby from Ted Baker
  • GAP socks, always.
  • Another hat which I asked for, a classic bobble, although mine is pink, of course. Accessorize Bobble hat
  • My genius Mum found me a handbag hook… Accessorize handbag hook.
  • Burning in my office right now? A Jo Malone fig and cassis candle
  • For perfect at-home manicures, Leighton Denny Miracle drops – watch out for a DIY coming up on this soon.
  • My favourite winter moisturiser… Origins Have a Nice Day spf15 face cream
  • Super thrilled with this one (after buying no less than 3 as gifts for other people!)Design*Sponge at Home book
  • And another great present – I totally missed out on Downton Series 1 and now I can catch up… did you see the Christmas special?!

Of course it wasn’t all about gifts, I had a wonderful few days at my home for Christmas Day, lots of lovely food and drink 😉 rest and relaxation and a bit of sale shopping already… more of that to come soon!

Share your favourite gifts by leaving a comment in the box… as always I can’t wait to hear what you’ve received!

Lots of ‘welcome back’ love,
Rebecca

  1. Ooh, a lovely haul of Christmas presents there.

I got a laptop and Radley bag from Santa, which means he will be in the good books for a loooong time!

I was a very lucky girl and got some lovely gifts. Mother in law treated me to a big bottle of ‘Oh Lola’ by Marc Jacobs, my mum got me tickets for Legally Blonde – The Musical, I got piles of gorgeous books, pj’s, dvd’s (Grey’s Anatomy – yay!), and a couple of Mary Berry cookbooks (I will become a domestic goddess yet!)

Your earrings are gorgeous Rebecca – pictures of you modelling them soon please!

  2. We have the same favorite winter moisturiser… That stuff is magical!

Also the earrings from Pete will look amazing with your eyes… Can we get a picture?!

My highlights were: a beautiful hand knit long orange scarf from Cos; a bottle of Chanel Allure (a change from Coco, but so far I’m loving it!); a book of short stories about London; Jeanette Winterson’s autobiography; a beautiful jewel toned silk scarf, Biutiful on Dvd…

And of course being in Prague! X

  3. Seconding the call for the earings pic please (also want to see your new ‘do)
I got a gorgeous gillet from The White Stuff, navy blue wellies, Viking charm for my bracelet (reminds me of my hubby…in a good way)
The best pressie was from my two brothers & sis in law – a voucher for a meal with champers at our fave restaurant AND guaranteed baby fitters for our daughter, cannot wait we haven’t been out for a meal since our anniversary in April, before the baba was born!

  4. Ahhhhh, nice pressies! I was rather spoilt this year. Turns out writing a fantasy wish list and posting it online means people go a bit wild with the gift buying. I got some lovely twinkly dress jewellery from Swarovski some champagne coupes, Sanctuary vouchers, The Vintage Patisserie cookbook (cookbook with a section on hair and make up = my kind of cookbook!), a number of books and travel books, a few DVDs and CDs, some rather well chosen (thanks sis-in-law!) clothing and underwear, the obligatory PJs, socks, perfume and toiletries and some gorgeous stocking fillers. I spend Christmas day with about 20 people, so I always come home with a car full of presents, and look rather spoilt.

I also received a nice chunk of cash from a few different people and now require some Florence Finds help on purchasing a new handbag… Or shall I just be naughty and spend it on an iPad? Help me!! “January Sales Best Buys” post?

Oh yeah, I also got Man ‘Flu for Christmas. Less chuffed with that. 🙁 (now off to rummage for your “cures” post…)

      • Yes please! I normally wait until February (combined Christmas and birthday money) and take myself to the Mulberry shop in Bicester. They’re never life changing though. I feel an iPad would be life changing…… 😉

Now, a Chanel would be life changing… But I’m not prepared to save (I.e. wait) that long! Ha ha!

    • I got manflu too! (Along with perfume, lots of books and general make-the-house-nice things like candles and furnishings and ikea bits and frames) 3rd call for earrings photo xx

  5. Sounds like everyone had an excellent Christmas!

My favourite gifts? A yellow large leather Cambridge satchel, for a bit of practical everyday luxury, a Sanctuary spa voucher (looking forward to using that!) and a black cashmere cardigan (soft, soft, soft!) from the White Company’s sale which started a few days before Christmas.

The present I am looking forward to sharing most with my husband and house visitors was from my parents-in-law – a fire pit for the garden. The garden is our “project” for the year and I’m hoping to have a proper entertaining space there this summer.

      • Will see what I can do on the gardening front! We have 120ft of jungle to deal with so lots of small projects to tackle… I received some good advice about basic gardening books here earlier in the year and will be swatting up on basics while we clear space a bit.

In other sale news… Liberty have a couple of Zatchels in the sale – am lusting after the green reptile print one…

  6. My absolute favourite a Louis Ghost Charles stool for my new dressing table, thank you FF for the chair post it was after routing around the web following that that I discovered there were stools… Also a very lovely diary & a 10 year membership to the Tates. Best emotion gift seeing nephew’s face on receiving a much hoped for skateboard. Worst gift man flu too. Enjoying reading about everyone’s gifts.

  7. Oo I love hearing what other people got for Christmas! I got mainly bits n bobs this year which inc some veeerrry snug sheepskin slippers, lots of lovely books, a memory foam pillow which makes getting out of bed even more difficult and lots of lovely new things for the new kitchen from John Lewis.

    xoxo

  8. This has been my best ever year for presents! Mother-in-law knocked it out of the park by getting me a Kindle (combined Christmas/birthday present), and my Dad got me the most amazing bottle of reposado tequila -I’m starting to fancy myself as a bit of a tequila buff these days so he’s won multiple brownie points. Last but not least, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair from my Mum which will hopefully sort out my chocolate-related breakouts….

  9. Sounds like you’ve all received lots of lovely pressies!

I would love to have received the Design* Sponge at Home book – I may have to buy myself one with some of the money I received over Christmas!

    Christmas day I started by unwrapping goodies from a stocking full of silly little gifts {orange, chocolate coins, mini magaphone, santa socks etc}

My faves are… a LV organiser/purse in my favourite Epi leather {which was my joint birthday pressie from hubby} … my in-laws bought me slippers, Wedding magazine subscription and a Zara coat, hubby added to it with a lovely diary, a cute design your own yoyo {which he bought from Anthropologie when we were in in NYC – love the shop!} and also teapot with tea cosy… Marmite egg cups, a new dress and my wedding day perfume from sis+bro-in-laws. Other lovely bits + bobs from friends such as smellies and photo frames. Love all my pressies!

    I didn’t get flu… but I’ve had a painful wisdom tooth!

  10. Everyone’s presses sound ace!!

I was very lucky as Santa brought me an ipad2 this year 😀 It rocks! So the rest of my pressies were little from the boy but he did get me Jo Malone bath oil in Vanilla and Anise which is utterly lush and Mac False Lash mascara which is actually a miracle worker!

My mum got me one of those handbag hooks too but mine has a big flower on it, bit jealous of your stylish heart one Rebecca! Going to try it out this afternoon as we’re off out for a girlie afternoon (in the gale force winds and rain!!) xxx

  11. Oooh loved hearing what everyone got! I was a very lucky girl this year – got the michael kors hamilton bag in tan from H2B! Its gorgeous! Also got some nars super orgasm blush, some orla kiely mugs for the kitchen, some accessorize cosy slippers and some ted baker make up bags!

Love the bobble hat, the earrings and the jo malone candle rebecca!

    Happy New Year all!
    Rachie xo

  12. oooh I got some Tom Ford Black Orchid perfume (lush – and lasts all day), the book of ‘War Horse, ‘, an Anthropologie dress which I love, the boyf treated me to a posh new hairdo, pyjamas, lovely slipper socks from Accessorize, L’Occitane gift set, and LOADS of food!!! 🙂 Plus I managed to get some fab bargains in the sale from Anthropologie, Reiss and Net-a-porter! x x x
