International Women’s Day 2012

Today is International Women’s Day 2012 and I’m helping to celebrate it over on Any Other Woman.

It’s funny, you know how sometimes you get asked, if you were a man for the day, what would you do? Well, I would be sorely disappointed. I LOVE being female. I truly believe that there is nothing a man can do that a woman can’t and I’d die trying to prove it. Then there are wonderful benefits that only we have. It’s great being a girl!

One of the best parts about being a woman I think, is having that support network, your mum, your best friend, your sister, your hilarious/loyal/understanding/stylish girlfriends. I don’t know where I would be without mine, so when it comes to celebrating women, and discussing all the issues we triumph over, I was all in.

“When you think about choices and relate that back to women, there are so many topics that warrant mention. Women having the vote, abortion rights, the ability to pursue a career, delay a family if we so choose, even having access to decent contraceptive choices, but as I thought them over non seemed quite right for me to discuss today. In fact, what stuck in my mind was the overwhelming number of choices we have today and a thought that I often have, are we making the right choices?”

You can read my post right here. This years theme on Any Other Woman was ‘Choices’, a tough one to write about as where do you start? As modern women we have so many, but then it struck me that sometimes so much choice is overwhelming and it’s hard to know what the right thing to do is. Head on over and read it, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Don’t forget to check out the other contributors too, they’ll be posting throughout the day at regular intervals and if last year is anything to go by, will be choc full of inspiring and thought provoking content.

Enjoy!
