Friday Frock O’clock

This weekend I have not one but two parties to go to. Fortunately they are different people, so one dress could have done both occasions… if I had found a dress that is.
Tonight it’s my work Christmas party, followed by a very good friends 30th. It’s safe to say by Sunday I’ll be planning a detox.

Yesterday I went to French Connection, party dress central, where the sale has already started just in time for the biggest party weekend of the year. Their embellished dresses are usually priced high enough to make them special-occasion-only, however the sales are often great opportunities to pick up one of their dresses at a massive discount. This year is no exception. I tried 2 dresses on – One had been reduced from £250 to £167 and the other from £275 to £137.50 (You can see the ones I tried here and here… – I chose the first one after canvassing Instagram opinion.)

However, on coming home and browsing French Connection online I found this super sweet and pretty Winter Gems Tunic Dress. I’ve always had a weakness for pale colours as they go well with my dark hair. I always feel glamourous yet feminine in lighter shades, particularly in the winter. I love the slightly sixties shift style with longer sleeves and that the embellishment is minimal, meaning that yet again it can work for a fancy party or on Christmas day with a cardi. It’s also 50% off making it almost reasonable. 😉

Have a happy party weekend readers – hands up if it’s your work Christmas party and do share what you will be wearing!!

Love,
Rebecca

  1. Love the first one. Every year I almost buy a sequinned dress and without fail, every year, I chicken out and stick with…what do you know….black or white (solid, never a combination of the two).

Trying to buy gold sequinned skirt to wear at Christmas but knee length (I don’t have your legs). Other option is gold sequinned top from autograph at M & S and then black straight jeans. It’d be a start….

  2. I haven’t got a Christmas work party to go to (bunch of scrooges) but we are going out for drinks tonight for my leaving do – and my outfit is thanks to you! I’ve been searching for the perfect sequin skirt that’s not TOO sparkly so it’s relaxed enough for the pub but sparkly enough to make me feel festive – when I saw the Oasis one you posted the other day I’m afraid I had to order it (after trying in vain to hunt it down in the shops) and it has JUST arrived at work…..just in time really as we’re going out in 3 hours! 😉

    Thank you! xxxx

  3. Ended up getting a fab little Hobbs LBD online from John
Lewis at £73 which was a real steal as it was originally £260.
