Friday Frock O’clock

This week ladies, instead of me helping you, I need YOUR help.

ASOS petite One shoulder corset dress with feather detail – £85

I am approaching a very big birthday. Ahem. More to come on that particular subject but for now, despite having lots of pretty frocks in my repertoire, I just can’t get past the fact that I need a spectacular one for this occasion. I’m going to a wedding the week after too, so it can do double duty, but for now, my eyes are on the prize. I need a fabulous frock.

You might be wondering why I’m asking you to find one when I have posted this feather skirted number today. This is my nemesis dress. The one I wanted, and I waited, God only knows why, only to find my size is no longer available. I have done myself out of the perfect party frock.

Your mission readers, should you choose to accept it, is to find me a new frock. Links in the comments box please, all suggestions gratefully considered. Or else I may be wearing a bin bag to dinner. 😉

Yours, a frock-less Florence

  1. Ahhh, the birthday dress dilemma! I had the same issue. After much searching I finally settled on a stunner from Gorgeous Couture ( only for the strap to fray the week before the party. It was a risky dress anyway (i’m an energetic dancer) but with that little design fault i didn’t want to risk it.

Sop i bought this one in a panic and was glad i did:

I also desperately coveted the pouffy black one from Ted Baker that you posted on here a while back… what about that?

I’m looking for a spectacular dress for a spectacular wedding i have in September. That little feathered one might be perfect…. hmmm

  2. Ooooh there are a lot of nice dresses out there at the moment!

This one is similar-ish to the one in your post

I adore Kelly Ewing’s dresses and Coogles have an interesting one on the sale, I’m a bit tempted myself. Check out the close up of the fabric it looks amazing!

Good luck with the search 🙂 xx

  3. I’m sure you’ll have looked at my suggestions Rebecca, but…

I’m currently in love with about half of the dresses on the Reiss website – what about there?

Or the French Connection Premium collection – some gorgeous frocks with a bit of sparkle on them!!

  4. I would love to have this Ted Baker dress hanging in my wardrobe…

Or If you would like something brighter, how about this, I also NEED this is my life…

Gutted I’ve passed the 30th birthday excuse to get either of them

  5. Sticking with a feathery theme:

    Channelling Gwyneth at the Oscars:

If you happen to have a spare £470:

Or a spare £700 (sorry, I know, not helpful):

    Too short?

Will keep looking (I’m having a slow Friday afternoon!). Any restrictions re budget/colour? No black, obviously 😉

    • Wowzers! I’d like the first dress just to swish about my flat in 🙂 and I wouldn’t mind the models legs either!

  6. Rebecca, I just went in to H&M for some basic vest tops, and saw their Conscious Collection. Some pretty cool stuff, check it out! I grabbed the neon yellow maxi (as a possible “spectacular” wedding guest outfit) though it could look hideous on my pasty skin, and the recycled silk and cotton ruffle maxi is pretty awesome too if you want a serious head-turner. I have a code for 35% off in-store if you want it? It’s the range that Michelle Williams wore to the Oscars (or was it the BAFTAs?)… Affordable, but a statement, and with a “message”…. How very FF? 😉

  7. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your contributions – you’ve all given me a lot to think about and prompted me to look again (because I’m always ‘browsing’ for FF I tend to write places off when in fact they could have had new stuff in…) bad blogger.

You’ll all get to see the results soon 😉

    • Ahhh only just caught up with Friday frock! Hope the search is going well…dying to see what you come up with. The pink feathers are adorable, such a pity…ah well, you can always borrow my wedding dress if you get really stuck!! 🙂
