Found: The Balcony Gardener

This week I wanted to start bringing a bit of the outdoors in but having not quite had the time or inclination to hit the garden and start planning this month so far, (you see, I’m not actually superwoman – something has to give!) it was fortuitous that an email plopped into my inbox with some really gorgeous garden finds. Allow me to introduce you to The Balcony Gardener.

The Balcony Gardener specialises in product ranges for small urban outdoor spaces – balconies, patios, containers and roof terraces.

We provide beautiful ready-planted containers or window boxes for those who don’t have the time to DIY, as well as a range of vintage and contemporary outdoor furniture, pots and planters, tools, and garden accessories such as lights and lanterns, bird houses and vintage finds.

What I liked about The Balcony Gardener is the range of really chic furniture accompanied by stylish and often quite contemporary accessories to really make your garden feel like that oft longed for ‘outdoor room’. The window boxes are definitely a luxury but have some really imaginative combinations for edible boxes, low allergen, year round colour and even a cottage garden box which seems like a real taste of luxury for those not fortunate enough to actually have a garden.

Another little find amongst the many gems on The Balcony Gardener site were these printed seed packets. Stocked at Liberty and Anthropologie (great credentials then,) they make a stylish gift for the friend who is just getting into gardening but you want to give something that looks a bit better than your average Thompson and Morgan packet.

However my favourite thing on the site has to be these sky planters Despite being an avid gardener, I’m not big on houseplants and although I often have many outdoor plants growing inside, seedlings and bulbs, the only houseplants I have are orchids. These look like a very cool way of displaying them in a group and making a bit of a geriatric pastime(!) modern again!

So, have you seen anything you like here, or has the site given you some ideas? If you enjoy gardening in small spaces or would like to start there is also a book with lots of advice and tips – The Balcony Gardener: Creative Ideas for Small Spaces available in the Florence Finds Amazon shop.

It’s just about time to start thinking about the garden again…

Love,
Rebecca

  1. This all looks beautiful, when we lived in a flat I used to grow a lot of herbs and vegetables on our balcony but it never looked this stylish, more of a tomato jungle really and much mocked by our friends!
