I’m going in with the big hitters this morning for your viewing pleasure, 2 of the shows I looked forward to the most, Burberry and Mulberry.
The Burberry invite was amongst the most talked about with it’s iconic London skyline laser-cut pop up, highlighting the brands heritage. You couldn’t help but wonder what they had in store at the show itself…
This is one of the few shows I have watched live – Grazia streamed the show (you can watch most of the shows at London Fashion Week but don’t get the full effect as the music is overlaid with something akin to elevator music.) It was a full audio-visual treat then to see the models walking the catwalk in time to the haunting yet stirring music. (Can anybody tell me who sings the opening track?) I’ve chosen a few key pieces here but would encourage you to head on over to Grazia and watch the full show. It’s mesmerising.

With typical wit and English eccentricity, Mulberry put on their show in an English garden complete with pastel layered cakes and gnomes for decor. The collection was heavy on the leather with unusual shapes lending structure to shell tops, over sized (or as Mulberry call it, ‘Borrowed from the Boys’) car coats and motorcycle jackets. There were 2 beautiful prints – one oriental looking blossom print and another lizard print. As you would expect from a heritage brand, the whole collection exuded luxe appeal.
Almost the star of the show was the new introduction to the Mulberry family – Willow. A tote bag in thee sizes with a clutch bag that is zippered to the front and completely removable, it fast went to the top of my lust-have list in expensive shades of tan and cream leather. Join the queue ladies!
So ladies, what do you think – any favourites here? Have you seen the collections or shows and if you had to pick a giant fashion icon from these two for SS13 which would you choose?
