ABC of Dating: M

It’s a two post day folks!

This morning, Martha is back to update you on her ABC of Dating adventures which co-incides with today’s January Joy prompt of planning a date. Pop back later for more on that. For now though, I’d love to hear if any of you went to the flicks over the festive period like Martha and what you saw. We saw Pitch Perfect and then Jack Reacher. I’ll let you know what I thought in the comments box later. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So this month’s update is going to be rather short and sweet I’m afraid! December was a pretty manic month with work parties galore and then travelling all over the country visiting family for a grand total of 3 fabulous (but exhausting!) Christmases. Needless to say, all this rather got in the way of our couple time, meaning we only managed to fit in one date…

M is for meal and movie.
I had all sorts of exciting plans for “M”; however, after a busy few weeks I decided to keep it simple with the ol’ meal and movie classic. We started off with a lovely easy dinner at one of our favourites, Jamie’s Italian and then we headed to The Hobbit – I even treated us to extra comfy VIP seats. With this date, even more than the others, it was so nice just to kick back and have some much needed “us” time.

And that’s it I’m afraid – not the most inspiring of dates but perfect for what the two of us needed! But don’t worry, we’ve already got some great dates planned for the coming weeks… ๐Ÿ™‚

Martha xoxo

  1. It’s one of my new year’s resolutions to go in more dates with my husband so this is a very well-timed post- meal and a movie sounds lovely! I’ve enjoyed this Alphabet series so far- thank you!

  2. This sounds just perfect. Sometimes that’s all you need.

We went to see The Hobbit over the holidays and are off to watch The Master. I have many other films on the list to see this month. Hopefully many more date nights!

  3. for once I am ahead of myself/the trends as one of my presents to R for Christmas was tickets for Uncle Vanya in London and vouchers for dinner (so that we HAVE to go for dinner beforehand and can’t turn up late.) I also pre-arranged to have the afternoon off to make sure I’m there on time and glammed up. Can’t wait!

  4. We are starting our Alphabet dating this month! We’re going to try and do one a month and Mr P is choosing our A date… already looking forward to it (even though I have no idea what we’ll be doing!!)

    Love this series ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

  5. Dinner and a movie is one of my favourite date choices… I love the cinema ๐Ÿ™‚

Loving how many of you have got involved with this since starting and I had an inkling a few of you would be thinking about giving it a go in the New Year, hence keeping it in this month. I’m looking forward to everyone’s updates!

So, my movie reviews as promised…
Jack Reacher – Pete’s a big fan of the Lee Child books and felt Cruise was totally inappropriate physically for the role. I hadnt read them and thought it was great – almost like a new bond, but lots of violence. I left thinking it’s no wonder so many shootings/violent attacks/murders take place when we watch this stuff for entertainment – it was a 12!

Pitch Perfect – Definitely a chick flick. The comedy is great and definitely one for glee fans but less moralistic than Glee and more ‘Mean Girls’ focusing on the social heirachy of American education establishments. The music was great at the end but could have been better throughout – unfortunately the focus was that they were doing outdated songs so I guess that set the tone. One of those where all the best bits were in the trailer but easy to watch.

  6. Les Mis is my next big cinema trip – shall be tying that in to January Joy. The trailer alone had me in tears :S

I shared Pete’s dismay when I learned that Tom Cruise would be playing Reacher, I just can’t imagine it, but I will try and view with an open mind!

This is a great series Martha. We haven’t adopted the Alphabet Dating but I am definitely storing up the idea for future use ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I can’t wait for Les Mis. Am going with a bunch of friends for my birthday treat in a couple of weeks. They’ve all be warned I’m likely to weep buckets….

  7. I’m expecting our first baby at the end of the month, so instead of doing Alphabet dating (I don’t think there’ll be too many dates in the immediate future somehow…) we’ve decided that we’re going to do Alphabet family days out instead. They’ll probably be pretty low key, but we’re going to take turns to come up with the ideas so that we actually do something with our weekends rather than just sitting about in our pjs in a sleep deprived state!

Loving the series though – you both have such great ideas! x

  8. We’re starting alphabet dating this month too. One a month and taking it in turns to organise. A is for…… astronomy! Or more specifically a public astronomy evening at the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh after a space/ stars themed dinner at home! I can’t wait. Fingers crossed for a cloud free evening.
